Ok, hooked up the WiFi antenna, and the ibus app immediately asked to update. After updating, I was able to activate the app and it started working.

Also got the car play working - had to hook up the iPhone's Bluetooth to the dongle, not the head unit. So far, I have to launch the Autoplay app manually to get Car play working. Is there a way to launch automatically on power up?

You can choose up to 2 apps to launch at power up from the iBus app. I launch the CarPlay app first in mine and then launch the home app after.

Cool - any clue where in the app I can do that? What is the home app?

Open the iBus app and go to settings. Dig around you will find the auto start selections. Home app is the base screen with everything at you finger tips to select, swipe, etc...

That's odd. My new role came with an iPhone that is 5G. It works fine. Is the Avin looking for CarPlay, bluetooth, or wifi? 5G cell signal shouldn't affect connectivity at all unless Avin uses it to connect for some reason- And that would be a very strange reason.

How are you trying to connect? It should have no effect on connecting to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

5G should have no effect. Buddy has no problems with either Bluetooth or WiFi hotspotting on his Avant 4 (1+ years now) and is running a OnePlus 7t Pro Mclaren which came out as one of the first 5G phones. You on Android or iOS?

Thanks. I'd have to try again. It's an iphone12pro max with both dual sims occupied. Bluetooth works fine but WiFi hot-spotting does not with the avin4. The primary line is the USA provider (esim). I'll look into the config in detail but this should all be straight forward stuff (wifi hot-spotting).

Ok, got it working:D. On the iphone I had to enable "Maximize Compatibility" in Settings->Cellular->Personal Hotspot.
