The ibus dev says the oil temp comes from the TÖNS which is on the bottom of the oil pan. I believe the signal routes through the LCM. Mine didn't work with my original LCMIII or the replacement LCMIV I put in a few years ago.

You mean the oil level sensor at the bottom of the pan? It has a temp sensor ability too?:confused:. Kindly update on your findings after the swap.

Yep - that's the sensor the app dev says provides the temp. I know E38/E39 with the M62 do get temp from it so it would make sense for the E53 to also work. We'll see after the part gets delivered. Should be easy enough to test w/o actually swapping.

Installed my Avant 4 yesterday and have a few Q's for the experts in the room please.

1) I'm not getting any radio signal, and I see there's an antenna plug on the back of the head unit - just no antenna connector in the dash. Should the radio signal be coming in thru one of the zillion other wires running to the rear of the truck, or did I botch something?

2) The unit came with a GPS antenna and a long mystery cable that could be for GPS also. Did AVIN send two different GPS connection options? I don't plan to use the built-in GPS.

I'm about to start buttoning up the exploded interior, but want to be sure I've run all the wires I need (back-up camera and quad lock cables). Anything else? Again, not planning to run GPS. THANKS for the help!

There is a separate radio antenna cable that needs to be plugged in.

I assume (you don't specify) that you're replacing a nav system and ran cable to from the trunk to the dash. There should be a cable that plugs into the antenna wire that gets removed from the radio module in the trunk.

If you had the non-nav radio in the dash, you should have a antenna cable in the dash.

It's been awhile but I remember that blue plug going into the radio on the opposite side of the gps plug. [emoji848]

Yes the OE unit had nav, so I ran the bundle of new cables to the luggage area. Sound like i need to run an additional cable especially for the antenna. Right?

Yes. Or, do like I did (though Avin doesn't provide a cable for it) and tap into one of the antennas in the center console. It's located on the left hand side about half way down the console. I believe it was originally for the factory phone connection in the armrest area but is serviceable as a radial for the AM/FM. At least it was for my installation. :D

I'll have to look around for that other antenna wire in the console. I never knew that was hiding in there. Thanks!

I connected the factory NAV antenna to the unit. Even if you don't plan to use it, just connect it in case your cell phone dies and the built-in GPS could come to the rescue. I don't recall the details of where that cable is or looks like, but it was plug and play connection.
