It's not in the dash but the shifter center console area. Left side, about halfway down. Should be visible once you remove the carpeted panel on that side.

My AVin came with an antenna wire and I purchased a GPS antenna wire. Ran both to the back along with eh quad lock cable. Plugged both into the antenna cables in the back. I use waze for nav and it needs gps which it gets from the factory antenna. The radio in the Avin gets its signal from the factory antennas.

Yes. Or, do like I did (though Avin doesn't provide a cable for it) and tap into one of the antennas in the center console. It's located on the left hand side about half way down the console. I believe it was originally for the factory phone connection in the armrest area but is serviceable as a radial for the AM/FM. At least it was for my installation. :D

I found that connector in the console (circled in first picture below), but it was the same style as the one coming from the new head unit. Both are female/female or male/male type.

After a ton of searching for info on the antenna situation and mistakenly tearing apart the left side of the luggage area, I finally discovered that the AVIN-supplied antenna cable plugs into the antenna supply line going into the OEM radio unit. (second pic) This is the best option, since it makes use of all the crazy tech that BMW installed for simple radio signal reception. I'm lookin' at you, diversity antenna, signal amplifier, trap circuit and AM/FM1/FM2/FM3 separate antennas!!

Correct. As I stated in the first post the Avant 4 did not come with the cable necessary for what I did. I used an adapter that used to come with the Avant 2 as it was already installed in the X5 I was working on... I was replacing the 2 for the 4. I believe it also still maintains all the diversity and other functions as all the OE antenna lines join together at some point.

Your route works great as well, and is how Avin intended install.

You mean the oil level sensor at the bottom of the pan? It has a temp sensor ability too?. Kindly update on your findings after the swap.

I replaced the sensor this weekend with an OE Hella. Oil temp is working after the replacement.

Very cool! Info on where sensor was purchased and pics of temp in the dash or IBUS app would be incredible! Thanks!

Interesting. My 4.8is never shows oil temp on the ibus. Of course I do have the oil temp gauge on the cluster but with the inaccuracy of the water temp gauge on other models, I'm not sure how much I trust the gauge. :dunno:

It's the oil level sensor in the bottom of the oil pan. This is the part for the M62 and M54. The N62 uses a different part number, but it has a very similar sensor.

If you have an LCMIV, it needs to be selected in the OBC oil temp settings. I had reinstalled my iBus app while waiting for the part and had no oil temp after installing the new sensor. The app was defaulted to LCMIII.

Awesome! Thanks for the pic! Hhhmm, earlier you'd said you upgraded your LCM from LCMIII to LCMIV but temp still didn't show. Could it have been it's just that the IBusApp was at the default setting of LCMIII and you didn't really need to upgrade the oil level sensor? I wonder if all I need to do is to verify that my IBus app setting is correct. In any case, Hella does not make N62 engine oil level sensor - looked at both FCPEuro and Hella website. FCPEuro has OEM and Vemco oil level sensor for the N62 engine. Not sure if Vemco will fix the display in case I needed to upgrade the oil level sensor.

Yeah, for me it's the coolant temp. I have the IBus app configured to display the coolant temp in the cluster since I don't trust the coolant temp gauge.
