Hmmm mine is a 2005 and doesn't but I was sitting in the new X5 and like the new 3series...inside the cupholder is a switch to turn on or off the fan. Is that what you guys mean?

How about, if you have Auto Headlights. . .If you push the fog light button with the auto button in "auto", it brings the low beams and fog lights on.

There's so much cool stuff in this thread it could almost exist on the front page :D I learned so much about the X from all the links on the front page it's not even funny :thumbup:

Here's something I discovered by accident: If you have adaptive headlights, the only way that they will swivel left and right along with your steering wheel is if you turn the headlight switch to the left, to the Auto setting. If you turn the headlight switch to the right, the headlights remain pointed straight ahead at all times.

[QUOTE=Kashew

The back compartment on the right in the wall of the trunk is perfect for storing booze...if you happen to be under 21.

That is so funny, I guess I wasn't the only one who used the secret transport liquor cabinet...should be in the manual!

I have just tested some of these on my (UK) '04 car (with nav) and can confirm the following:-

The cigarette lighter socket stays live even after several hours. A post here indicated that the car goes into a deeper 'sleep' mode after an hour and power to this is cut, but on mine it definitely stays on. Is it possible to change this so it DOES go off?

You cannot turn the radio on without turning the key to at least position 1.

Both of which are a shame as they'd be useful. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

Just finished reading all 26 pages - awesome thread guys and gals.

Once I get this oil-separator issue fixed, I will be out with a vengeance to try some of them out.

Already found the flashlight and the socket on day one - the light doesn't work tho and I can't dissemble it to check the battery - any hints?

Check on eBay you can find them cheap, if is so bad that can not be fixed
