I have many reasons to believe mine is not the ILs...yet lol

I think if were ILs would be consistent during cold weather and would be all cylinders?

Also restarts don't do anything for me.

Lastly it doesn't happen when ILs are changing from max to min it happens way after sometimes right away.

Changed my Vanos O-ring seals. Putting them back in was a PITA.

The smaller o-rings didn't seem that bad but the Big outer ones maybe a little as it took very little force to pop them out, possibly creating a vacuum leak. Didn't have any oil leaks around it though.

After cleaning and putting the new rings on, it took quite bit of force to push them back in but at least I know they are in there tight now.

No noticeable improvement was noticed, trying to see if this will help with the cold start random misfires.

There is a trick to getting the vanos seal in: cut the old o-ring in bro about 12 pieces at sharp angles and stuff the pieces in behind the new seal as you work your way around. Not ∞ easier but it rounds to it. I destroyed the first seal trying too install until I figured out this trick

Holy crap I found the photo! The red handle from the super sharp diagonal wire cutter I used to make the o-ring snippets

The vanos seal fix will improve power delivery over the RPM range should have little to no effect at start.

Used the Foxwell to reset the adaptations after installing the last replacement o2 sensor. Hopefully that's the last of my o2 heater codes. I replaced the front as a matter of preventative maintenance.

Right now working on getting a new tensioner, idler, and belts fitted. Then going to install the SAS repair kit that just came in the mail. Hopefully I get it all done and don't get lazy... it's happened before. ;)

Run some injector cleaner through the gas as well. I've been chasing these similar gremlins for a while. The adaptations reset was a punt: errors came back in a few months when ambient dropped.

Pulled all the old CCV stuff, checked/cleaned IAC, checked/cleaned TB, replaced dipstick o-ring, and found that the water pump bearing is bad......new pile-o-parts ordered. This X5 might be nice once I'm done.

Replace Integrated Control Module, Engine Crankcase Breather Hose (1-4cyl) & Engine Crankcase Breather Hose (5-8 cyl), Bowen Cable (Front Door Latch) and finally change (again) CCV (I didn't know that, it had certain way to be installed, glad I ordered the Bosch and showed me, which way it was suppose to be).

Hopefully will let everybody know of a set that costs half what eBay sellers ask for.

Any word?

So got a nice scratch from a guy driving a haji-davidson while I was sitting at a stoplight.

The only good news was when he bounced off he fell and of course got up and drove off and left his DNA behind...[emoji38]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...72ffd2cd06.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...244b1077b5.jpg

Was the DNA sample his own performance or was it the result of the high velocity lead poisoning coming from the direction of the AW SUV? :bustingup

EODguy 03-08-2019 11:19 AM

That would be wrong....

Besides it was karma, I swear..!!
