3rd drain/fill of transmission. Sadly, the fluid still looks pretty dark and nasty. I did a pan drop and filter change on the first go-round. The shifting is noticeably quicker even after the second drain/fill.

On my e83, there's a transmission oil change reset in DIS (and presumably ISTA), but I couldn't find it in ISTA for the e53. I can't get my DIS to connect to the e53 for some reason, so I couldn't check in there. Anyone know if there is a reset for the e53?

I've been mostly just working on this thing since buying it a month ago. Tomorrow she goes on her first ski trip into the mountains.

AM.

Probably depends on the exact transmission but I don't think there is a "oil change" reset or anything. There is for the transfer case though.

The ZF trans controller (EGS) has an adaptations reset - not sure if simply changing the oil would warrant a full trans adaptation reset - I wouldn't think so. A change of any mechanical or mechatronic parts would though.

Installed my final OE style replacement O2 sensor today in hopes to eliminate post cat heater wire codes for good. Will reset fueling adaptations as soon as the Foxwell NT520pro gets here. Hopefully this will be the end of O2 sensor codes... ;)

Amen to that I've been dealing with the same. Without the scanner I got a good reset by unplugging all the sensors and run the engine. Then use basic b
Obd tool like phone to reset SES. That got me months without O2 error but got a couple when the temp outside dropped

Stock Pre and post X5s understeer with DSC engaged. Xdrive models have less understeer than pre Xdrive since they can transfer any percentage of power to one or any wheels that have traction.

Both also understeer with DSC disengaged. The XDrive models power distribution is then 60 rear and 40 to front. The pre models are always 68 to rear and 32 to front.

With suspension mods, alignment and tire choice understeer can be reduced. I like a little oversteer but the handling mods I found to be the fastest and most predictable on a 4.6 are still with some understeer.

In the last month, I have replaced the brake pads & sensors (machined the rotors), and a transmission service. $AUD 1400 all up. I was hoping that the pads would last a bit longer because I am saving up for a set of slotted/cross drilled rotors. Oh well, they will have to wait for the next 12 months.

I had slotted and drilled rotors. I got rid of them when I did my last brake job. They're noisy as hell. Went with Zimmerman rotors and Akebono ceramic pads. Rebuilt the calipers at the same time.

Maybe I should just upgrade the calipers - 4 pot at front and 2 pot in the rear. I just love the look of cross drilled/slotted inside the immense wheels, and the performance advantage for me would be good as well.

If you have 20" wheels 4 pots should fit. To be honest, I did not notice any performance difference between slotted and not slotted. I don't race, so I probably wouldn't. Stopping distances remained unchanged as far as I could tell during my normal driving.

I have stoptech drilled/slotted and aren’t noisy at all.
