I think I'll try that but with Electrician tape or cloth tape (bandage tape)

Changed my Vanos O-ring seals. Putting them back in was a PITA.
The smaller o-rings didn't seem that bad but the Big outer ones maybe a little as it took very little force to pop them out, possibly creating a vacuum leak. Didn't have any oil leaks around it though. After cleaning and putting the new rings on, it took quite bit of force to push them back in but at least I know they are in there tight now. No noticeable improvement was noticed, trying to see if this will help with the cold start random misfires. |
Wow, I didn't realize it but my thermostat was indeed bad. I have been attributing the poor heater performance to short trips and very cold weather, but after replacing the thermostat during my cooling system overhaul yesterday, the heater gets SO HOT and it warms up way faster. The temperature gauge gets to the middle of the dial now. I haven't seen it all the way to the middle since the summer. IT'S SO NICE!!!
This will probably help my oil sludging issues as well. I replaced my cold weather CCV two years ago but have been noticing sludge buildup in the oil cap and dipstick tube. Here's to hoping that's just a side effect of the bad thermostat... |

Extremely cold here so the supercharged heater is welcome ...

Broke down, pulled the CD changer and fitted a GROM USB2P. Found a mouse nest under the changer!
Now, if I can get the factory mic sorted out, I can fit a Bluetooth hands free like the 2013. I also have to get used to the quirks of the USB music player and what it will/won't play also how many tracks per folder. The instructions say one thing but the unit has a mind (and a lady's voice) of her own. |
Used the Foxwell to reset the adaptations after installing the last replacement o2 sensor. Hopefully that's the last of my o2 heater codes. I replaced the front as a matter of preventative maintenance.
Right now working on getting a new tensioner, idler, and belts fitted. Then going to install the SAS repair kit that just came in the mail. Hopefully I get it all done and don't get lazy... it's happened before. ;) |
