Also cleared codes yesterday I'm new to the obdII scanners.
I just drove over 200 miles today and no check engine light came on...
Does that mean I'm fine?

It might. You may not have replicated the same circumstances that caused the codes. It is more likely they are old stored codes that won't come back. If they do post the codes if you need help as to their meaning. It is not unusual that codes are misleading.

However, I've been meaning to upgrade my diagnostics laptop (Dell D630 loaded with INPA/DIS) and stumbled upon a compelling thread using Carly as a new substitute to INPA/DIS because of the speed of it. What would take me 10 minutes to do takes 2 minutes, and the UI is so much more friendly.

I think there is a place for Carly. As always with coding, connect your car up to a charger so you don't brick your modules; in my case, I left the car running so the alternator could keep the battery charged.

So, I found Carly's website to be abysmal at telling me all the things it could do. It was like a phone tree...bad design imho.

Soooooo, can Carly do things like reset the xDrive adaptations, cycle the DSC/ABS pump when bleeding the brakes, etc. like DIS? I couldn't tell from their website. All I could tell from their website is it can code and reset my battery (for an extra charge, of course...).

Today I polished my headlights with the 3M kit with the protective sealant for the headlights. Worked pretty well and took me about one hour +/- ice tea breaks.

No it can't. It has much more functionality on newer chassis. On the E53 is is a fault reader, limited coding, and I believe it does live data for certain parameters. I will try and hook mine up over the next few days or will add a video for what it can do for the e53. I thought someone already had but I guess not.

I only have the free version so far, so I can't tell you much. I want to go back to STL and see what it can do on my E36 before I spend $60 for the full version.

I did a brief video showing what it could do, but didn't go through each module. I don't have an xDrive E53 to test on and didn't bother to test it on my parent's E71.

From what I see, with Carly, on e53, only lighting module and CAS can be coded, some bulb check, DRL, seat belt alarm, etc.

Miniz, go ahead and use it on the e71, I coded a e71 with Carly yesterday, and its got all of the important options. I put together a list for my customer yesterday. Here it is.
