1. How do I find out what software our car is running and what is the most up to date version?
2. Why won't the Sat Nav allow full voice input, when we have voice commands, it stops at country and says you have to manually input address
3. Have a problem with the sun blinding us when it hits the lovely shiny bamboo on the glove box, does anyone else find this a problem?
4. Anyone noticed how hot the dash gets, we are not even very hot in Perth at the moment and the heat just radiates of it and a/c does not seem to be very efficient to combat it.
5. Have given it a good wash and polish and found the next day the wheels are covered in break dust again, is this normal
6. Radio reception around Perth gets a bit crackly at times

Thanks for listening

Not sure my responses answer all your questions but heres a go

1. Not sure how to work out the latest version but I just got mine updated so I assume it is the latest with the split screen for reverse camera and pdc. I think you may find the answer on the forum if u do a search. Unfortunately it didn't fix my prob of TV not coming on when you stop (I still need to put it in park) which means it may need to go back in for another upgrade'

2. Not sure - will try it

3. I have bamboo as well but havent had any problems with reflection

4. Haven't had that problem either even with the latest set of hot days but I think that is because of the comfort windscreen option which I have which is meant to reduce the heat. Wasn't sure what it did until the recent hot weather.

5. Yeah I have that problem but it is very common on BMWs

Hi,

My replacement X5sd was sent down for build date 51st week of 2007 but delayed to the 1/1/2008, should get my vin number in the next day or so.

I am getting the same spec as my previous one except this time I am getting Comfort Seats & USB.

Also have heard that all BMW coming to Australia as well as alot of other makes will be delieved via Brisbane port and then trucked to the Eastern states, not sure as of when but was told by a guy that works out there.

Happy New 2008 !!.... Must be closing the car handling at Pyrmont in Sydney as the ships usually come from Brisbane to Sydney to Melbourne anyway ? btw I drove up to Port Macquarie over Christmas and did not find that the steering pulled left or right when driving..... I have also noticed with the latest software upgrade my fuel economy is worse.. must be updated transmission software in the latest update... only got 9.3l / 100 km on the run up and back (via the Hunter Valley)....

Hi James,

I noticed that the fuel economy on mine would only get down to around 9.3. I think they have to bring in more electric control for such things as steering, hydraulics & air-con.

They have been talking about it and I believe electric steering is already on some German BMW models.

I see there is a concept X6 with fuel/electric. With the way fuel prices are going they will did to do something.

Hey James,

Just got my Vin number for my new SD. The SD comes with the bigger V8 brakes & rotors now.

I checked the ship that is booked for my car it is the Texas, the X5 was produced on the 3/1/08 but the ship does not arrive to pick it up until the 20/1/08, strange as I thought a ship left every 10 days.
