I'm sure for the real driving enthusiast, they'd rather have the best overall performance, and not worry about the design of the driveline that accomplishes that performance. If a form of the KERS system provides that best overall performance (no, not just in a drag race) then it wouldn't bother me in the least what acronym was applied to the driveline.

It is like debating whether or not M cars should have turbocharging. The highest performing vehicles (F1, etc) have used forced induction for many years. It was quaint that BMW didn't use FI for the M cars, but they finally had to move with the times. Using or not using a traditional limited slip diff may be part of that onward march of technology, in the interests of better performance.

I know F1 uses KERS, but at the same time...you can throw all the power in the world at it, but if only 1 wheel is spinning, it's throwing away power. Either way, it's not out yet, it's one picture and who knows what was happening in that turn. We're arguing and for all we don't know anything for sure until it's actually out on the road.

Night all.

You would expect a car like this new M5 to have a torque vectoring system on the rear axel. Maybe during this test run, they had the computers do something strange just to see what happens.

I agree it can't be a good thing to be boiling off the tread on the inside rear tire in a sharp, fast right hand turn! My old Buick Regal turbo would waste so much time spinning the inside wheel.

I would guess it to have a torque directing rear axle like the X6/X_M vehicles as well...

When have they ever had an M7...? I think you may mean Alpina 7, but in either case the M5/6 was faster and lighter.

I wonder what the hood camo could be covering? I see no bumps, bulges, or vents.
