Sure, it can make up for it in the track, but will the new M5 be able to achieve the 3.3 second 0-60 time that C&D got with their Panamera Turbo?

True...however, i assume the Panamera's AWD is great for takeoff but will hinder performance at higher (track) speeds. With the M5's upcoming TT and new tech...this should be really interesting

E60 M5 weight chart from the manual.

F10 M5 will be lighter than E60 from what I have heard.

Now that is some good news. Nice to see a lower weight associated with a newer model for a change.

There is big initiative at BMW to lower weight across all models and more so on ///M cars as part of EfficientDynamics. The F10 is lighter and M5 will further loose weight. To give you perspective, the new 1-series based ///M is supposed to be close to 2200lbs.
Will see how the next Bob Lutz CTS-V track challenge goes.

Want some car w/ your rotors?

What's the point of the euro hitch on an M5...they need to take that thing off there asap.

All cars should have a hitch.

Seriously, they tow a dyno trailer on many development vehicles. They can apply additional load to the drivetrain for testing purposes.

I meant to say why didn't they remove the gooseneck. Since I've been researching using the X5 removable hitch, I assumed that the car version was removable also. It looks funny on cars, but if they need to tow a tire trailer, gear, , testing under heavy loads, etc then it makes sense.
