Cool vid from BMW Press Club.First parts of the vid is the Blue X5M and Red X6M doing flybys somewhere in Charleston.Plenty of max gas petal deflection noises!!!! .The other part of the vid is an older X6M mule on a racetrack in Spain and some cold weather testing vid. Thanks!!!! Well, further to the 'utility' aspect of the X5M, whether or not it has third row seating:

It has as standard, Trailer Stability Control, which means they kept that feature in even as they revised the DSC settings for the M model. Optionally, it has a trailer hitch. Here is the cool part: the X5M hitch ball swivels electrically, presumably to hide itself behind the rear apron. The X6M has to make do with a manually-removable trailer hitch ball.

I can see the M purists spinning out of control. An M with a trailer behind it. Might have to actually go and look at one of these. Given that the M5 with some options is $125 CDN before taxes, I figure an X5M will be over $130 here.

My .02 is that I am not that impressed with the body work. The engine stats are awesome, but the new front end doesn't do it for me. I don't care for the monochromatic look (I don't like the M sport package either). For my money, the current front end with the aero kit looks better. But I would want what's under the hood. The interior is essentially stock except for the knee bolsters from the X6, the gauges, the headrests, and the steering wheel.

My guess is the facelifted X5's will have the 4.4 TT from the X6 as a replacement for the 4.8.

Thanks for posting -- the X5 looks like a beast...

Glad to see BMW is back on top for SAVs...

Porsche and Mercedes are probably getting flogged for letting BMW take the crown back. Finally the M dominates again...

Electric trailer hitch has been on the 7 series for a while now. The idea was that it integrates with the rear view camera. Personally I don't get the logic behind a trailer hitch on this car and no roof rails. Weird.

+1. The current X5 design + aero kit is so well executed that the new M package and the X5 M body work can't top it. Also the 21'' inch style 128 wheels and even the 20'' style 214 are way better than the X5 M wheels. However, the specs of the X5 M are amazing. My wife drove my X5 last week and she is now creating all kind of excuses to drive the X5 again . Maybe the X5 M is the car I was looking for to trade her car in and pass my current X5 to her . I will wait to see the MSRP (I estimate around $90K in the U.S.) and more colors of the new X5 M before making a decision. The light blue they have chosen to launch the car is absolutely the worst possible color car for this kind of vehicle. I though without Bangle the BMW design was going to get better not worse.
