They're dual voice coil Pyles. The stock speakers are also dual voice coil. I'll get the part #'s later.

Well... They work.. I think the rattle is from the fact that the sub enclosure isn't installed. Unsure what I think ab this for now. My mother in law's stereo is DSP but some of the speakers are shot. '

Mike did you snap any pics? I know its prob self explanatory but figured if it saves me a few mins to have a visual of where you trimmed that would be great -

Hi Ricky,
Sadly, no pics on my efforts with the Memphis Audio mid-ranges. Prop had some good ones showing the area he worked on in the early part of this thread. Mike

does anyone have a picture of a factory rear door mid sub speaker? I'm wondering if it has capacitors soldered onto the wires (similar to how it seem the mid range speakers do from the posted pics).
If this is the case, then a coaxial speaker (ex C2-600x) could be installed where just a midsub is and you'll get a fuller sound...

I am thinking about these for the mid-ranges on the rear door, OR perhaps just dremeling off the entire outer ring of the Memphis Audios to make it a 2.5" diameter speaker - Peerless by Tymphany NE65W-04 2" Full Range Woofer Here is a pic of the Factory midrange speaker, which as I said, is the same speaker whether DSP or Hifi, on the E46 as well - I think it needs to be around 2" or around 65mm overall diameter to fit into the factory "grille" which is clipped into the rear door panel - BMW E46 3-Series Mid Range 2" Rear Door Speaker Sedan Coupe Wagon 1999-2006 OEM | eBay 2000-2006 BMW E53 X5 REAR DOOR MID RANGE HIFI LOUD SPEAKER BEIGE OEM 65138374750 | eBay EDIT: Now that I'm looking at it, the OEM connection does NOT have a capacitor in line on the rear door midrange, you would know better if putting an additional tweeter set in that location would be good or bad -

Quick question, if anyone has the answer. Are the front and rear midbass baskets interchangeable?
Don't want to go too OT but: I went with the Focal 165A1SGs components in the front (they are hot glued in NOT coming out lol) and thinking about moving them to the back and going with something different for the front stage. I think I'm going to just bypass the DSP amp and try out this HU: https://avinusa.com/bmw-5-series-e39...on-system.html (larger display, more vertically mounted rather than at an angle, and looks more like modern BMWs) |
