I would bet engine mounts if it shakes enough to annoy in drive at a red light.

Almost all cars shake or make too much noise for my senses when in drive not moving but my wife's X5 is worse than mine for sure.

I bumped my idle up about 25 to make it run smoother at idle and it's very helpful

I guess it could be the mounts. On most cars, bad mounts result in shaking rather than vibrating, but I'll take a look at them when I get to it.

AM.

with smoke test. Do both when engine is cold and when it has reached operating temp. Exhaust troubleshooting the basics before going deeper.

Hey all, having an issue with the AC in the car and did some searching but wasn稚 exactly what I知 looking for.

This winter i had the HVAC die, no fan power in the cabin with all the controls working. Replaced FSR and that did the trick. With warm weather coming in to Philadelphia, I turned the AC on earlier in the week and was met with ambient temp air blowing out of vents. Yes I did rotate the center dash hot/cold dial, to no avail.

I took a look at the AC compressor in the engine bay with AC on max in cabin. It looks like the clutch is not spinning (I知 assuming with engine on and belts rotating, the disc at the front of the compressor should be spinning ?) there is a chattering/whine when the AC is on, not sure if that is relevant. With engine off I could rotate that disc with my hand freely....

So my questions are, what is best next step? I saw something about that relay dying but nothing much for DIY. There are myriad YouTube videos for M54/common bmw problems, but not much on this really. Any help is much appreciated!

You need to determine if you have freon and if enough. It's impossible to do a proper diagnoses with just low side but it's a start

If there's not enough freon the AC will not engage.

High/low manifold costs less than a recharge at a shop so get one.

Mine is usually about 45/250 psi. (Ambient dependent) .

My low pressure switch connector popped off and my account was non operational when I bought my X5 it was my first repair.

I suggest having it checked and/or refilled, if that is the issue, at a shop that has the professional type equipment.

Great, thanks fellas. My neighbor has a shop and he's gonna do a quick check on it tomorrow with his equipment and then we'll go from there.
