So glad that my purpose in life is solely to make you laugh. Then again, not much else for me to do since being laid off from the asbestos plant.

I discovered the "Cluster/Gauge Test" function accidentally today while trying to reset my oil service light back to the green bars.

I do not know how to activate it.

It was pretty cool(and at first alarming) to see every single warning light, and all the gauges go to their maximum then back. I also accidently changed my temp reading to Fahrenheit. It was reverted back to Celsius when I finally got the oil service reset procedure correct.

The procedure is probably covered somewhere on one of 40 pages of this thread.

Embarrassed to say that I just found out about this feature this past weekend. I've owned my X5 for about 5 months.

Embarrassed? 5 months is impressive.

I bet you the majority of X5 owners will never discover this feature... that is unless they drop by on xoutpost.

Or read the owner's manual, where it is called 'convenience opening'.

I wonder how many items in this thread there are that are real, and are not documented in the manual.

It baffles my mind how many people will buy a $2,000 television and sit down for HOURS with the remote go through every page of the manual to learn what every single button on that remove does. Yet they never touch the manual of their $50,000+ vehicle.

dont get too used to it. i did that last week thinking of letting out some hot air in the cabin and guess what? 1 window lifter broke and the wirerope got entangled to the motor spindle. good thing the glass was intact. cost me $90+ for the window lifter and half a day's work to replace it. my lesson learnt is: for an old goat like the e53, best policy is not to touch what you dont really need to use. haha

My boyfriend and sisters think I'm insane when I yell at them for playing with the windows and door locks unnecessarily.
