Lot of stuff here.

Don't know if this one was mentioned (searched)...

If your X is sitting out into traffic a little (say in an alley) and you want to make sure it is seen and not run into in the dark, you can turn on the parking light bulb for just the right side or the left. All other lights will remain off.

To do so, after removing the key, move the turn signal lever in the direction of the side you want to be on.

This freaked me out!!! I just got my X5 on 30 December so many things are new to me. I was cleaning out the interior and did not notice that I had moved the turn signal lever. When I was done cleaning out the inside, I closed all the doors and began to pack up the cleaning supplies. I looked back and noticed the lights on the right side were on (dimly lit). I thought it was just the sun, but looked closer. I was getting a little upset thinking it was an electrical problem and now I would have a dead battery. I got in, put the key in the ignition and turned; the signal came on!!! I was so relieved!!!!

Probably been mentioned, but if you have power rear seats and lock the windows, it disables the power rear seat controls for the rear passengers. Also, if you tilt the sunroof and do not open the sunroof shade, it automatically opens.

I don't know if this is considered a hidden feature or just some whacked out electronics...

Yesterday as I was leaving my house, I noticed that my drivers side angel eyes were on and the turn signal blinkers (which was just on, not blinking) were on too. My X5 engine was off and no key in the ignition. I didn't even leave my light left on by accident. When I started her up, I guess I must have hit the turning signal left before I turned her off cause the left signal went on. I just simply put the turning signal lever back to the middle setting and all back to normal. Strange...

YES, this is by design; when you park on a narrow street at night it acts like a parking light but just on one side, to save battery life!
