I don't know about Canada, however, I learned I could save a few hundred dollars just calling different dealers to see what they offered for pricing on warranties. The time is the most difficult challenge...7 years from the in service date is the longest they extend the warranty for...I wish they went 8, it might be worth the $$$ for the extra year in my opinion...

Question Extended Maintenance

My X is running out of it factory warranty/maintenance but it is a CPO so I should be good on the warranty side for another 2 years. I am looking into the extended maintenance and how much it costs and if it's even worth it. I know a lot of you got great deals on extended maintenance so if you wouldn't mind sharing it I would appreciate it. (And also did anyone have buyer's remorse after buying the extended warranty )

EDIT: Forgot to mention is a 2006 X5 3.0.

Thanks

Meister: Yes I read through it but looks like BMW prices keep changing often and just wanted to know if anyone had purchased the extended maintenance recently and how much it cost.

BMW updates its pricing every year, not often. Re-read post 70 (page 7), then 115 (page 12), then 134 (page 14), then 157 (page 16). Then call Mr. Ryan Lee at Macon BMW and tell him you are an Xoutpost member. No one has gotten a better deal so far than $100 over dealer cost.

Just got off the phone with Century BMW Greenville, SC. Here is their over the phone quote for my pre-owned '06' E53 31,000 miles, original warranty good till 2/10.
Warranty 48 mon/50k = $4,295
Maintenance 24 mon/50k = $2,895
Think I'll pass and bank the money for repairs since I only drive it about 10k/yr and it is in great shape now. Also it is a no frills model, less stuff to go bad. I'll take my chances.

Forget the extended maintenance plan quote you got. You can get it for $100 above dealer cost from Macon BMW, which for you is $1,795 + $100 = $1,895 just by telling them you are an Xoutpost member. Banking the money on repairs is fine, but maintenance isn't really repairs, strictly speaking.

In regard to the warranty pricing, I have no idea. You'll have to shop around for the best plan/price. What company's plan are they selling by the way?

I posted this in the X3 forum but I figure it will get more exposure here. I am debating if I should buy the extended maintenance package. I need to decide this next week as I am about to hit 50K. I have the CPO warranty till 4/12. I had them check my brakes and the fronts have 3/4 left (original brakes) and the rears are like new (replaced about 8k ago). I just had my engine belt replaced and my front wipers. I am planning on putting on 10-15k per year in miles. I am thinking it is not worth it but it is $1395 to not worry. Does it seem like it is worthwhile in this case or just pass to pay as I go?
TIA!

Look at everything that is included and consider how much of it you'll be getting done during that time frame. Call up the dealer and ask how much each individual service costs. Then ask yourself if it's a car you'll keep and want to maintain, or one that you plan on getting rid of in the next couple years and don't want to spend any money on maintenance. Then do that math and you'll have your answer.
