FXPOSE: See post #25 in this thread...

Yup, they all try to mark it up. My local dealer wanted $2,000.

I just paid $1495 for the 2 year extended maintenance - was told this is typical dealer cost.

This wasn't their quoted price - the first quoted $1895. There were some "shenanigans" during my purchase (which I won't go into here), and as part of the resolution, they sold me the maintenance package for their cost (or so they said) of $1495. Bill Jacobs BMW, Naperville, IL

This thread has some of the info I am looking for, as I just bought a 05 X5 3.0i... it is still under warranty but I am looking at extended warranty options. My dealer (Peter pan in San Mateo, ca) offered $1895 for maintenance and $3700 for warranty.. considering this only adds 2 years of warranty to the deal, at about $230 per month, it seems a bit too much, no?

I saw the post below, and I was kinda happy, but then did a quick search on google, and here is a not so good news:

2004 X5 4.8is
32,700miles
Extended Maintenance: $1595 (My dealer wouldn't budge off of $2495)
Extended Warranty through Fidelity: $1867 ($2942 at Southbay BMW) 4yr/48k mile Platinum warranty!!!

Got to say, I'm absolutely ecstatic to hear these prices! And why in the holy hell would anyone buy the BMW warranty for 2yrs for over $3k when you can get the fidelity platinum warranty for half???

Is this fidelity warranty any good?

I have seen private party cars still under warranty, so I am guessing I could go extended still. Your prices plus the car price is less than dealer CPO.

Today I discovered that Security National Warranty went bankrupt in September of 2008. Anyone else buy their plan or know of information on this? I'm worried I have no coverage... Their website is dead and I've google searched an only found the name of the LawFirm handling the case...guess I could call...
