BMW updated the Extended Maintenance Program information effective 3/2010 (from June 2009). The reason for this is to update the eligible models and pricing to include Model Year 2011 cars (now covering vehicles between 2004 and 2011). Note that the pricing has not increased from the July 1, 2009 update. (My guess was that the next pricing change (increase) would happen sometime in June 2010 to take effect July 1, 2010, but it didn't happen. So even though we don't know when BMW will make the change, one thing is pretty certain that the change will be an increase, not a decrease. So IMHO if you are pondering buying into this program you probably better get in on the current pricing before it changes)
Attached is SIB 010307 which discusses the program in detail and outlines all the costs. Again, contact Mr. Ryan Lee (478-757-7000) Finance Department Business Manager at BMW of Macon for the best price. For Xoutpost members he will charge just $100 over dealer cost. You will not find a better price anywhere. For more information on the program and what is included see here (posted March 15, 2010): BMW North America UPDATE: As of 7/25/2010 The pricing has not changed. For extended warranty you can either go with the new programs BMW introduced around 6 months ago or an aftermarket extended warranty. For the BMW options see here and the attachment:
BMW North America PDF Brochure: http://resource.bmwusa.com/pdf_3927f...458c3059d.arox Note that BMW offers 3 levels of coverage: Powertrain Plus, Gold, and Platinum. Gold covers basically the same stuff as CPO. Platinum offers the best coverage and even includes things like the navigation system, however to be eligible to buy Platinum, the car must be well within its original 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty; in fact, it has to be within 45 months and 45,000 miles!!! So basically if you bought a CPO car that has coverage to 6 years / 100,000 miles, your only real option from BMW is Powertrain Plus coverage (unless you want to have 2 warranties covering you at the same time!) which would cover you after the CPO ran out. Pretty lousy option from BMW IMHO. For aftermarket extended warranty, Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. has received high marks from board members and is apparently accepted at most (if not all) BMW dealers (contact your own dealers to verify this). They have 5 levels of coverage: Powertrain, Silver, Gold, Gold Plus, and Platinum. Contact them directly for pricing. Fidelity Warranty Services - Home Page Quote:

Zurich Extended Warranty
My BMW dealership in Los Angeles sells an extended warranty product from Zurich. Has anyone considered this product? I am now in the CPO portion of the warranty in my 2006 X5, and anticipate having around 55,000 miles when it comes to an end. I would like to keep this car for a couple of more years. So, an extended warranty is something I would consider purchasing.

X5 Meister,
Thank you so much for the info, especially the PDF, that you posted. I had to act quickly because my 4 year Maintenance and Warranty expires next month. I did try my local dealer but they just quoted me full MSRP for the "BMW Maintenance Program" (6 yr/100k miles) which was $2,295 plus tax. I did not discuss Warranty plans with them as I did not know about the "BMW Extended Vehicle Protection" program at the time. I called BMW of Macon but Ryan Lee is no longer there so I spoke to Bill. He discounted the "BMW Maintenance Program" to $2,095 which I accepted (and there is no tax). We also discussed the Powertrain Plus, Gold and Platinum versions of the 5yr/100k, 6yr/100k, 7yr/70k, 7yr/100k warranties. I quickly made up my mind to get the Platinum 7yr/70k which he said had MSRP of $4,680. So I didn't shop around because I ran out of time but I got these two plans for $6,400 -- for which my dealer would have wanted $7,418 (including tax). Trust them or not, that's the BMW published MSRP. If a dealer wants to mark up the price then that's their choice, doesn't matter if it's on a warranty, a car, or a screw.
