Riaz should have received his good copy and I will re-distribute to anyone who needs it. That's if he has returned from being out of town. Haven't heard from him lately so not sure. |

If your car is a newer car like an E90 or E60 that doesn't go by "oil service/inspection I or II" but gets the "standard scope" + whatever other services are needed then you reset it with the GT1. Otherwise you reset it through the vehicle.
What year is your X5? Do you have the round 20 pin connector under the hood or just the OBDII 16 pin connector under the dash. If it is just the 16 pin connector then you reset it through the button on the left of the cluster. (described in an article on the homepage I believe)

But to supplement the round connector wire jump method, the pin 19 is just a ground, so you don't have to use that, just jump pin 7 to ground. Just turn the key on, jump pin 7 (second from the pac man mouth) to ground or pin 19 for about 12 seconds, then just as you pull the wire from ground tap the ground point one more time real quick. (don't know why but it always works that way, if you don't do the quick tap it doesn't work 1/2 the time)

We have the proper BMW special tool to reset the lights on the 20 pin round, and we go through the cluster on the others. (except the newer cbs cars) But when some lazy tech doesn't put the reset tool back for half a day I use the wire jump method rather than search around the shop for 30 minutes. It works the same really, what do you think the tool is doing internally when you hit the button?
