The seat backs do require a weekly touchup to look their best. I looked into changing them to black, but the parts are expensive I thought I was the only one who wasn't that jazzed about the 4.8is ground effect trim. I completely agree with you. To me, it makes the vehicle appear heavier and slower and takes away from the cleanness of the design. I've considered trying to do a conversion to the front and back to remove the 4.8is lower trim, but figured that would kill the resale. Quote:

Try looking into the Fidelity Warranty. It is very highly rated and their platinum level of coverage really is excellent and to my knowledge does cover air suspension. I've only heard good things to be honest. There is a pretty good amount of info on the board on it; I even posted the contract in its entirety.
Yeah the ground effect trim is just okay for me. If I was in my teens, then no question I'd want it, but now it looks a little boy-racer-ish if you know what I mean. In black it's not as bad, less so in silver, but in blue or red it's terrible and as you said appears bottom heavy. Regarding the seats, I would never have imagined that a modification on a BMW was expensive! Quote:

After washing my car and cleaning my wheels today I realized they no longer have any type of finish on them. I guess I'd better start looking for someone to repaint and clear coat them.
Any recommendations for Portland Oregon? Thanks, D |

If you have the stock BMW software I HIGHLY recommend every 4.8is purchase OEtuning's 4.8is software. It is a night and day difference and worth every penny.
The drive-ability and power gains are incredible! It's a completely different vehicle. Buy IT! |

It's not Dinan S/W. It's a completely different tuner. You won't be disappointed! If anyone is in the mid Atlantic region, dynotuned performance in Virginia beach can do the tune. I think it's around 600. It's worth every penny!

A bit more amplifying info, please...I'm gathering the name of the company providing the update is "OETuning"? Is this a re-flash of the stock ECU, a seperate ECU?
How do you know what the gains/advantages are without knowing the exact price? Did you have this done, or drive another 4.8is that did? (just to clarify, I'm not trying to be combative, just in the market myself and very curious)

Yes the name is Oetuning. I received a discount because I have their tune on my 4.8is and a custom tune on my super chargex m3, which destroyed the dinan tune.
They flash the ecu, no Piggy back needed. I know the gains because I drive my 4.8is pretty hard. It's a huge difference. I also tow a 24ft enclosed trailer to and from the track. I picked up a bunch of torque and 1mpg. It makes a big difference! Where are you located? I'm in the community as well(nsw) feel free to pm me and we can discuss the tune further. If you're in VB I'll let you drive my x. Ryan Quote:
