Thanks for the response...

Yep, read that post and did each wire, one-by-one, being careful not to short anything...

Fuse looks good as the Dynavin is still working. I went one wire at a time and made sure nothing touched. I even checked with a multimeter and the voltage was 12 on 3 out of 5 wires and an Ohm reading was good for continuity in all 5 wires. The MID worked perfect right before I installed the Dynavin.

Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a DSP system?

Confident that the wires were extended correctly and soldered etc...

Should it be? Any ideas why it might not be?

I installed the Hualingan a week or so ago. If you are careful about the harness, you can just about pull the adapter to the glove compartment (our cars are made the correct way - driver on the RHS ) without requiring extension harness. You won't be able to leave the BC connected in the glove compartment but you should be able to connect as and when needed for resetting. I lost more pixels when I had the BC reconnected but it is working.

I too did not get the 2GB SD card with iGo map as promised but managed to get a copy after some "surfing" and also the country map for NZ. The GPS with iGo works very well. It is pretty straightforward to swap maps. Heaps of info on the web. Tried nDrive and didn't like it.

hualingan - not working from my side, pls help

Hi NextGen and Others ( pls help)

1. Pardon my ignorance, but i am not sure what is a DSP.

2. My unit comes with the stock head unit ( i browse the net and found a similar photo) and it also comes with the Alpine BMW iPod interface ( see photo)

3. Attached herewith is a photo of the harness where my installer ask me to take a photo and ask or search for a diagram if correct.

He told me since my Stereo was added with Alpine BMW iPod interface, the old installer might have changed the original BMW harness, to fit with the said Alpine BMW iPod interface. By doing so, he is that the Hualingan harness wont fit exactly with my BMW harness now.

4. He is asking me to ask for BMW Original harness diagram and also Hualingan harness diagram so he can match them up.

5.My installer totally removed the original BMW head unit when he installed the Hualingan thing. But I noticed the original BMW head unit in some photos on current thread, some put them in the globe box. Is this needed to be done so Hualingan will work?

Pls help. Thanks

Take a look at the top right button on your MID (radio). If it says DSP then you have it.

See here also http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...ve-dsp-x5.html

440films - I saw your post on bimmerforums where you now have yours working. Remember, we are all here to help each other, if you feel motivated to ask question, find the motivation to come back and share your solutions too.

onions - After connecting the MID, did you press the volume knob? This knob also turns the unit on and off. This is just a guess on my part.
