But if you are ballin on a budget, and you don't care for the autodim feature, you could buy the mirrors for 60 bucks that I have, gain the blind spot feature, have blue tinted glass, and have your mirror heat function still work. EDIT: I just realized only the one side mirror is bad, right? if your driver side mirror works as it should (and you have auto dim mirror glass as a factory feature), just get the auto-dim passenger side glass to match. However, I still am a big fan of the blind spot functioning feature as opposed to the auto-dim feature, much more useful IMO. if you have tinted windows like I do you really don't need auto-dimming mirrors anyway lol!

![]() ![]() ![]() And for an example of the aspherical (wide angle) side mirrors...you can see how much more visibility they offer in the images below. You do lose the 1:1 reflective ratio that we are accustomed to here in the states on the driver's mirror...but you get used to it after a week or so, & the additional visibility far outweighs the 1:1 ratio (on the driver's side)...the aspherical passenger side mirror is similar to the convex mirror that we're used to...so that one just adds a bit more visibility: Note how you can easily see across 3 lanes of traffic...the blind spot to the back rear of the vehicle is basically eliminated.

What's a good price to pay for a fuel pump and filter replacement?

Speaking of mirrors, I actually glued convex spots to my wing mirrors - don't know why particularly, but there seems to be a heck of a blind-spot with these cars, and I've seen other drivers around do the same thing.
Incidentally, my passenger-side mirror is stuttering when I do the kerb-monitor trick - it is much smoother when facing further outwards and dips further, but pressing the glass outward doesn't seem to give help, ie, give it a more oblique angle relative to the position of the switch; seemed not to make any difference at all! Is it possible that the mirror carrier has got bent out of shape, and can this somehow be re-aligned to dip properly for the kerb-monitor? So after my strange afternoon at the vehicle test centre here in Abu Dhabi where they failed it on the license plates (stock) and then did the bumpy road test with the window open until the lifter got busted, I didn't fancy the 30 minute trip to the industrial area where all the car repair shops are... scrubbed the seats instead with Bio washing powder in HOT water, followed by Maguiar's Gold Class Rich Aloe Conditioner, interior detail with CyberClean, and quick coat of wax - job done for tonight. |

Powerwashed the garage floor to remove all the brake dust from the job last week and detail hand washed the X. Hwy trip a few days ago in heavy rain with truck traffic had it looking NASTY. First pic with new brakes.

ok, lets put this thing to bed for me lol.
here's the info on my car about halfway down the page: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...saying-hi.html took the passenger mirror off yesterday (was easiest when I tilted it downward and then pulled up/off). It only has the stuff for the heating elements. I didnt pull the driver side mirror off as it was getting dark though. I cant imagine only the driver side mirror being the electro type and the passenger being heated but I will check if I get a chance today. makes me wonder if my passenger is original and someone tried to upgrade the driver side at one point? or that was what was used to replace the old mirror for whatever reason?? carfax doesnt show any accidents but maybe it had one and was not reported and they replaced a whole door? my dad owned a body shop for several decades and I know how to spot this type of stuff but it doesnt look like any door bolts or fender bolts have ever had a socket touch them. weird. maybe the mirror was broken at some point? the door panel does appear to have been off at one point in the past I would assume as the wood trim piece doesnt sit exactly flush where it touches up with the inner door handle. its a little raised like someone never got it to seat properly after removing it. I've gotta get in there to replace a window plastic clip thats causing window vibration when the window is down so if this isnt original, I'll see a paint line/different color when the door panel is off. edit: sorry for inadvertantly turning this into a tech thread right now guys. wasnt my intention lol Last edited by stackz; 11-08-2013 at 08:52 AM. |
