Super jealous.
even the Dinan 540iM would be a great car I bet!

Did an oil change with 0W-40. After 1 year of short trips and all temperature extremes, it was definitely due.

I installed a new factory X5 trailer hitch the weekend (after spray painting it all black with tremclad to avoid any rusting issues).

Also installed the factory Hella battery cut-off switch and

installed rear factory mud flaps to stop the dirt/rocks/snow/ice from getting trapped up in my nice new 4.8iS rearbumper spoiler add on. I had to slightly modify the mud flaps, but nothing anyone will ever notice. and it looks SENSATIONAL on the X5, if I say so my self
Really need pics of the mudflaps after a description like that!

Got my Powerflex tension arm bushings today and will take a stab at putting them in myself - I also got a HF 5 ton hydraulic gear puller, thanks to the posts here.
The current bushings are only about 3 yrs old and not damaged, but you can see the rubber deflecting at rest.
Wish me luck!
Bill

You're welcome.

If they're rusted you might have to hacksaw the sleeve to release the OE bushing. Mine pressed right out, but the X has never seen snow.

You may want the 12 ton HF puller for this job ($15 more), the 5 ton was near its limit.

Read post #3602 for installing the Powerflex bushings.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough

ORIGINAL CCV is out, dated 9/7/2003. Amazed it made it so long. Cold weather version and cold weather dipstick guide tube going in and hoping for another 10 years of service out of it.

Not the hardest job in the world just absolutely tedious, with little room to work. I don't know how the E39 and E46 guys do it as they have even less room in their engine bay than we do

Pulled off the valve cover (3.0), cleaned and RTV'd the semicircular cam cut-outs that were leaking a bit. I read in forum posts that this should be done, but not seeing it when I took it apart I did not use any sealer the first time.
Oh well, lesson learned!
Next is to exchange my 5 ton HF puller for a 12 ton per TiAgX5s advice. Tension rod bushings next weekend!

Fixed the rear left lights and re-initialized the pano roof. I was relieved to see my rear lights were just a dead bulb and need for some dielectric grease and cleaned contacts; not the melty/burn issue older models seem to experience. Re-initializing the pano was a breeze. Hauled a 5x10 enclosed U-haul to move a storage unit. No gripes from the U-Haul, excellent towing performance.
