Fo' sure - it'll get that. And zip ties!

Looks like a decent part. Feels robust and well made but it IS a knock-off. Is not a dirt-cheap knock-off though - about twice the price of the cheap units and therefore about 1/4 the price of an OE unit!

Funning thing is. the (RF) door handle started working immediately after I ordered this part!

I think the issue with the old/current DHC is the cable is a little too long and occasionally fails to pull latch up high enough to open door. I don't think it's actually brocken.

I put this new part (and a handfull of door clips) in the trunk, for a rainy day.

Haha, I knew you would be adding some lube, I was just setting you up for a "that's what she said"
Yes, it does look pretty decent though I think you are probably right about the cable.

When the cable faults usually the opposite: the end rusts and makes the outer sheath longer making the inner cable not come out far enough to get the inner part to catch. Or when the axle breaks though the hinge (by far most common fault). Then there's too much flex at the hinge and it doesn't pull far enough. When this happens the top of pull will feel springy and you may be able to unlatch the door if you do it quickly (this was always the case in the 4-5 personal cases).

The current DHC hasn't been in there long enough to rust!

And it doesn't feel like the axle mount is broken. Just an overlong (and now stretched) cable I think.

I'll diagnose it closely when I open it up - one day!

It's darn near impossible to stretch a cable but I have seen the mount bent and I've seen the cable clipped in the wrong groove. I'll be interested to see what you find when you do change it.

With non oem make sure the spring doesn't protrude out the back. I've had to grind down it will touch the glass of it sticks out more than a couple mm.

I had a professor who taught DC circuits in college, he was about 65 and was this tall beer-bellied Texan named Dr. John. He clearly didn't need to be teaching but you could tell he loved it, especially embarrassing kids in front of the whole class.

Dr John would ask questions in this huge class, and if you answered wrong he'd stare you down with his face getting all red like he was going to pop, just stare straight at you until the whole class was uncomfortable from the silence, and then he'd just calmly say "Minus five" in his Texan accent and go on with the lecture.

Wpoll, for inexcusably missing your most perfectly tailored "that's what she said" setup.... MINUS FIVE!

Jeez, tough crowd!

(Sometimes I err on the side of caution due to the wide audience here. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it... )
