Yup. Almost 13yrs since my X5 was built in 5/2000.
I bought the replacement battery from Advanced Auto using $40 off coupons online. It cost $122.99 after tax. Most of these battery are made from the same manufacture anyway so the cheaper the better.
The replacement is shorter in length, which makes me worry about it not sitting secured in the car. Turn out BMW kinda anticipated this and have a pre-made spot for the battery tie-down to secure the shorter one.

Looks good. When you have some time and patience I would suggest you do the center console in the same CF wrap. Not to sound like a d!ck but that matte black console makes the interior look so cheap. The console is a bit of a pain to remove but I think the effort would be well worth it. Also the steering wheel trim looks phenomenal when its painted or CF, that would be a great looking wrap. Airbag removal is pretty simple but you need to make sure your battery is disconnected.

the local cops don't give you any grief???

my sis-in-law had her E36 for her 17th b.day, came tinted from the used car dealer, who said "don't worry, it is ok by the cops"... the Lower Paxton cops (in Harrisburg, PA) gave her a 10-day warning, to remove the tint... it was such a pity to see it go...
