Dynavin pictures

iPod screen - you have the option to select song, album, artist the same way as on regular ipod
For some reason the Dynavin knobs light looks different but in reality it matches BMW ambient lighting perfectly.

Thanks for the confirmation Philly X5. That's exactly the approach I was going to take as well...glad to know it'll work without issues.

Gonna be running alot of cables front to back on this project: 4 RCA channels + sub, fakra, and rear view camera

I just checked with Jeff from J&T and he says the inventory is currently inbound, and he'll have it available sometime next week.

Regarding the group buy suggestion, I skimmed through the thread and aside from you and I, didn't really see anyone commenting they were ready to commit $800-$900 on a Dynavin unit purchase yet. Don't think an order of 2 will get us any discounts

I would be in, but still ironing out how to get it to work with my stock DSP amp and not have to have the massive first gen 4:3 nav unit mounted remotely somewhere

Not sure why you need to have the 4:3 nav unit mounted remotely anywhere? My understanding is that people have relocated their MID previously was because the initial Dynavin/Hualingan units did not have the OBC functions. So people relocated their MID (usually in non OE nav cases) to the glovebox to retain the OBC functions. Unless I'm mistaken, now that the Dynavins have the OBC functions (granted it's in some weird metric format hehe) then you don't really need to relocated the MID/OE nav anymore. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong here (though it would throw a wrench in my plans as well if that were the case).

The biggest hurdle, I think, is that you have the DSP audio. You can do a hack workaround, not my preference because of the volume control issue/limitation. Or you can run all the audio RCA cables to the back and get an aftermarket amp to replace the DSP amp. The latter is my planned approach since I have to run the fakra cable front to back anyways (so I was going to do the rear view camera also, might as well since I'm running so many cables already, what's 1 more...haha)

I have the 16:9 OE nav + DSP and did not planned on remotely mounting the 16:9 OE nav unit anywhere. Will be replacing the DSP amp though.

Also, looks like you cannot change the info from KM,C to US miles and F
I wonder if you hook up the MID back up and switch the setting to US miles and F if it will show up on the dynavin.

What about the check-control system? I'd be relocating the OEM nav unit so I could still get messages like "check brake lights" or "check coolant level".

I take care of my vehicles, but it's still nice to have a little warning when unexpected things happen. The last thing you need when coming back from the bar is to get pulled over for a tail light bulb

I sent an email to Jeff from J&T to see if he'd be willing to offer a group by and what his requirements would be (e.g. #s purchased vs. price)
