Wow that is a awesome looking headunit! It fits flush just like factory! How much do these units run for? Does the navigation and controls on steering wheel work with no issues? Would love to have something like this installed in my X5! Any info on pricing and where you purchased this would be great.

Doru, the radio reception seems at least as good as the OEM if not better.
I mean I was testing it in an underground parking lot and I was getting pretty good reception.
It uses the plug from the oe antenna - one less cable to install which is great
I'll do a more in-depth review of all the features once I get home.im not with the x right now and traffic at 9AM sucks

Thank you Sir. Once you have it running, test the radio while driving in different city environments (if you will) - around stop lights, underground parking, between high rises, etc, and see if you notice any fade in reception. The old units would fade as you drive under those circumstances - very annoying. They were OK in a stationary position, if interference wasn't an issue in that particular spot.

Doru, here's my experience with the radio so far ...right out of the box, the radio reception isn't the greatest.I tested it under all of the circumstances you listed above : stop lights, while driving and underground parking lots ;
the signal was worse than the OEM radio that I thought was ok, BUT Jeff sent me part of a future software update that tweaks the radio a little, and after 2 days after that update,again, doing the same kind of testing, I see a much improved radio signal and a more constant reception overall.It really made a difference and although I don't listen to the radio a lot, I'm pleased that now it works better than before.
So far, in all honesty, I have no regrets for ordering this unit .For everything that it gives you , simple and intuitive interface as well as the OEM looks, can't see a reason not to get one.

Hopefully this makes sense ..

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered one, not sure when it will show up. So I have to ask Jeff for a "radio patch", it seems.
One more question: can you please look up in the rear hatch, and see what your amp model is? (Lear, Philips, Loewe - all are O.E., but pending of the cost of the day, BMW equipped the cars with whatever was cheapest on that day). It seems the DSP works with a certain amp model.....

Ya there's no easy way to find out the brand on this AMP
it's written on te back so in order to see it you gotta take the amp out by unscrewing about 14 screws and mess around with the bracket lol
But I got it, it's LEAR

You can use "bimmer" code for $50 off the unit which brings it to $699, so far hearing good radio reception review and such is making me real excited, its literally the only thing my X5 is lacking compared to the 08 GLI I sold was the OEM interface for media and navigation, something about having those nice live maps in your face as opposed to looking down at your phone is so nice.

And all the Bluetooth goodies, etc is a great plus as well. Only thing I'd probably get is the USB extension so I can keep my iphone/ipod etc in the armrest
