While reading about it on e90 forum, Jeff talks about the microphone being very directional and found that the best spot is up by the ultrasonic sensor.might try to put it there see what I'm getting.
I noticed the radio signal can be inconsistent at times (not too bad)but I'm already having Jeff working on it...he said he has a fix for certain conditions that will be part of a future update and that should help.

Now I have to run a wire all the way back and tape it into the reverse light wire so I can get the PDC working.I might do it with the camera though so I don't have to do it twice.

Junger, thanks for the tip!will def try that.

True...I'm just making excuses not to spend money

So...you only have to cut the two sides of the bracket? With this unit, do you still have to keep the OE MID to keep some of the OBC functions?

four.8 - congratulations on the install. It seems that this is the unit that will refresh the E53 and bring it into the XXI century!!!

As far as GPS antenna and the mike - unless the original GPS antenna is an active unit (has internal circuitry for signal processing), you should be able to use OE antenna but you would need to route the cabling from the rear of the car to the front... Might not be a feasible idea.

The mike - same with the mike, if you trace the mike wiring in the harness and tap into it, you can feed factory microphone into the N6... Or, route the N6 mike to the factory location - depending on the direction of the N6 mike, it might work...

In OBD - what else can you see other than the coolant info? RPMs? Oil temp?

Even though I do not need this unit, I am getting just as excited as the rest of the guys!!!

How about changing the image of the 1er to an X? I bet it is just a little image file in the firmware... oh, and if you could match color of the X to your actual car's color!!!

I am getting carried away here...

I'm curious about the factory MID too and if it needs to be hidden somewhere else in the vehicle to keep the OBD info for the N6 to display, OR can you just remove it all together (preferable)
also do Four.8iS, do you know if the SD cards for the multimedia and Nav maps have restrictions? Like no larger than 8gb or can not be SDXC cards (only SDHC)?
I e-mailed Jeff to see his response on both these questions this morning too.
PS: glad its working for you now. looks sensational and I'll be looking into it soon.

You can remove it but any OBC functions you can change on the MID itself will be "frozen", i.e. not able to be changed, but viewable. This is at least the jist I got from Jeff when I emailed him. As far as I know if you want 100% OBC functionality from the MID you probably should still relocate to the glovebox (very easy)

I have older Dynavin in my M3 and current using 32GB Micro-SD so I'm sure it will support at least 32GB.

I didn't want to loose any of the MID feature so I just extended the cable and place it in my glove box.

So you have to keep the original radio
Wired after the N6 is installed? How does this work with my X that has navigation display.

Junger, you had to splice the wires in correct? Too bad there isn't an extension harness.
I use my glovebox so not sure what to do.

From what I have seen you should be able to unwrap the MID harness a bit from the cluster of radio plugs and probably get it into the glovebox intact. I could be wrong though as I've never done it.

Jeff does advertise that the N6 you don't have to move it, as some functions are supported, just not all.
