Overall I think it's only O.K. The interior looks are great - but the outside isn't doing it for me. I like the look of the pre-facelift e53 better.

All the new to industry electronics?... not BMWs strong suit and now even more stuff that can go wrong. My guess is that people will run out and get them, a bunch of recalls and annoying problems. Then, by 2009 or 2010 models, they will finally have it figured out (at the expense of the people who buy in 07).

I'll be on the list of people who buy one, just not an 07 or 08.

I'm not a big fan of the E53's "official pics" (untinted windows and the chrome trim) either. Can someone photoshop away the chrome window trim and tint the windows on the E70?

You mean E70? BMW has reserved some changes for the mid model term facelift changes on the E70 X5. It will grow on you.

No, I meant what I said. And I'm sticking with what I said in my post this morning. I really like the E70.

What I was saying in the last post was that I think the official pictures of the E53 are ugly...the X5 looks much better with tinted windows and without the window trim. I'm sure the E70 will look even better the same way!

According to What Car?, the MPG is better by 18% over the existing 3.0i at 25.9 (versus 22.2 - for a manual box!). New Consumption for the diesel is 32.4 mpg, which is slightly worse to the 32.8 quoted on BMW's uk website.
