PDC and rear camera. I've said it before, but the MB Parktronic is superior to PDC, and nearly any other manufacturers rear camera is better.
Having not used the new iDrive, I can't comment as to whether my gripes with the Nav and the general speediness (or lack thereof) of the system has been improved or not. |

make the idrive completely downloadable software... kind of like replacing your current pc with a better/newer windows version, or at least frequent usability updates and not just fixes.

4.6is - i would move the window buttons up just a little on the door , i open the back ones almost every time when not looking at it haha
besides that it's a tank and i love it . no problems at all with it after all these years now... replaced one seal on something and my tires a few times thats it. x5m - i would design new rims for it before it arrives here .

New owner (July 4th) of 2009 X5 35d. This will be my first experience with RFT tech. To be honest, I feel a bit exposed without a spare (bought off the lot with deal too good to pass up, $1,800 under dealer invoice) due to 3rd row seating. Driving conditions here necessitate use of winter tires (Blizzaks in the past, thinking of Nokian Hakkapelitta this time). RFTs not always available in needed size, so flat tire without a spare could be a real pain. Past BMW's (328i and 530i) both had full size spares (I never needed them). I guess imo the deletion of the full size spare would be a decision I would revisit. I don't know if a RFT can be damaged bad enough that it couldn't be driven on, but I'm assuming as with any tire it could. I would hate to have to call a rollback for just a flat tire.

Thanks TaMbLoLoNg!
Been having so much fun haven't stopped for photos yet, will get them soon and post. I live on a hill and have a twisty road on the way up, and while my new X5 certainly isn't an M3, I'm amazed at how it handles the "15 mph" hairpins. Really just can't help but smile as you put the power on coming out the corner, this diesel engine needs to be seen more here in the US, kicking power up a steep hill, but 28 mpg down the highway, and currently average 25 mpg over two tanks.... ahhh What you could change/re-engineer? Up for debate, what doesn't need to change? A 5,500 lbs SAV that out handles many cars out there! Pictures to follow. |
