I will get some shot with HID on this weekend. One of the best feature of LUX h8 is that it doesn't change the brightness with low voltage when the HID is on.

If anyone need further explanation, they should contact creator, MDS82 on E90post.com

There are tons of information on Lux H8 in that site... and the lower voltage when HID is on has no effect on Lux.

Is there an online DIY to be found anywhere to install these lights. Is it something a newbie with no experience can do himself?

Was there a bulky resistor pack with these, if so where did you mount? Does the resistor pack get very hot?

Its very easily to do this. Even a noob can do this.

Twist off the cap at the back of the head light.

Remove the exising h8 by twisting. Use a small flat head screw driver to unclip electrical wires for H8. I recommand using the flat head screw driver because, i tried to use my nail and it hurts like hell.

put the plug the power into lux h8 and drop the reister pack into the headlight right below the h8 bulb.

You will need some patient putting the H8 bulb back into socket. Since H8 has 3 tabs holding it in place. All three tabs are in differnt size. there is only one way to make the bulb fit. Have some patient. Once the H8 is inside, gentally twist until it come to a stop.

TIP: looking from the front of the headlight while trying to twist. You should be able to see how to make the bulb fit in.

Close the cap and twist it gentally. Once it feel like it stop, twist it harder and it will click and lock the cap in palce.

Can we have more pictures from inside?

Thanks for the info on the installation process. Still a little worried about messing with my baby. Any know of a place in SoCal that does these kind of things. I'm loving the all LED look

Disclaimer:

Mine was installed on my X5 which wasn't officially support by MDS's Lux H8. The bulb fit in perfectly with X5. But the only problem I fear was that the bulbs has been not tight enough even after it was fully turned.

After some experiment with different o-ring, i found a best fit solution for this.

Its a very tiny o-ring for fixing the faucet. SO tiny that you would not think it will fit or work.

After carefully insert the o-ring using a tiny flat head screw driver to avoid all soldering. Use you hand after it pass the LED and soldering to roll it down the neck of the LUX. Use the Flat head and carefully fit the o-ring over 3 H8 tab.

Insert the Lux H8 back, and you will feel the difference that tiny o-ring brings.
