No LED Corona Rings on the 2011 for North America?

I've been reading this and wondering whether its true and if so, why?

The lights to the rings might be led and looks like there may be 2 bulbs rather one.. do u want your bmw to look like an Audi or benz ?

I meant that the rings for NA will be lit with the same conventional bulbs as the 2010 and older and NOT LED bulbs. Its not a huge deal, I was just curious since the 5GT has them here.

Epacy is an unknown quantity at this point
Where are you hearing this from? Sources?
I'm not sure why it would be different anyway.

I've seen them both ways. My guess is that it's optional.

Show me. I doubt it's optional. It doesn't show up in any ordering guide.

Inside Line has reported it that way. Also, the European press release specifically mentions them while the US one does not.

For what it might be worth, the X5 wiki page also says not for NA

As for Insideline/Edmunds, watch this video and listen to the guy and decide for yourself how much to believe Insideline.

Wikpedia (I know, not a trusted source)

2010 refresh
The modified X5 will be revealed at Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The updates are focused on a revised range of engines and exterior changes[7]. All models are provided with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard and permanent BMW xDrive. Exterior changes are among other things selective changes to the front and rear, e.g. enlarged cooling intakes, new fog light, new headlight design with optional LED corona rings (European models only), LED daytime running lamp function position, optical underride protection and LED taillight as well.

I'll find out the answer later today or tomorrow morning

I would have to say the Corona rings on the 2011 are NOT LED for Canada at least because the covering memo on the leaked 2011 Canadian Order Guide doesn't highlight it as a new feature like they do for all other differences including the rear LED taillights. It does not appear to be an option either.

Not concrete proof but I'm sure it would be highlighted if different.
