BTW the Air Temp Sensor is a fairly inexpensive part ( $26 ) and is very easy to replace (hence pretty low labor costs). So I guess this assures that the replacement is from the 'new batch' of parts and reduces the potential for 35d owner Check Engine Light fright

I could see this- until they figured out there was an issue, they really didn't know what fixed it and had not 'purged' nor controlled the sensor inventory...
