Successfully retrofitted LCI headlights (with LED coronas) in to my E70 X5

Successfully retrofitted LCI headlights (with LED coronas) in to my 2011 X5.
My 2011 was a early built(09/2010) and it came without LED coronas, so I found the headlights on eBay and most of the modules/ballast.
The dynamic Xenon controller is the only one that will swap over to the new headlights, also the HID bulbs will fit the new headlight.

Some of the background work:
The FRM 2 puts out ~6 volts of pulse power(not clean voltage) this was not enough to turn the LED coronas, no even enough to drive a relay.
So I replaced the FRM 2 with the newest Footwell module FRM 3
61359287252.

Member TRIPL3_O CODING wrote my vin on the new FRM (coding) but even after that the new FRM was putting out between 12 and 13 volts but it was still Pulse power which did not turn on the coronas. At this point I could of use a relay if I want it to convert the pulse power to normal clean power but I didn't wanted to mess with a relay so we kept playing with coding and what really did the trick was we Changed the build date in the Vehicle Order to 04/2012 after that the FRM sends between 12 and 13 volts of clean + power.

The wiring is all the same except for one wire which is used to Dimm the coronas, I did not hook that up because I want the coronas to stay bright all the time.

If you want them to Dimm you can hook pin #7(empty at the moment) to pin #3 (HID low bean power) and your LEDs will Dimm when the headlights come on but that's your choice.
if you want to do this you need to order 2 pins to add to your current plug part # 61136901728

Here are the individual parts of the headlights:

Left headlight 63127298451
Right headlight. 63127298452

LED modules 63117263051 need 2 of those there is 2 in each box so that's your 4 LEDs.

Day time running light control module 63117263052 need 2 of them.

HID ballast. 63117356250 need 2.

The cornering light module, the HID bulb , and the turn signal bulb will swap over from your current headlights.

I'm really happy with the results.
Is really hard the take a picture that really shows how they look.

Wow! I was just thinking about doing this today but didn't see anyone wh successfully did this retrofit. Will the preLCI ballasts and igniters work with the LCI headlights?

no the ballast is different, the bulb and igniter is one piece the bulbs will fit.

I think all the pieces together where between $1,600 and 1,700 I don't remember the exact number since I bought everything separate.

If I can get $800 for my complete factory headlights I will be a happy man lol

Great work. But sounds like too much hard work & cost just to get the LC1 LED Halos. Well done all the same.
