In the middle of an oil change and forgot what I did last time. Oil drain plug torque is 25Nm, correct? I know the oil filter housing is. This is for an N62

Went with 25 Nm and all good.

Topped-off the oil thanks to BMW's unique valve stem seal design. Currently consuming about 1 quart per 2,500-3,000 miles.

Ordered Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat's for my X5 today.

Will be nice having the piece of mind knowing I wont be left stranded since the previous owner replaced two of the tires with regular tires and I don't have a spare because it came with run flats.

Had some 'free' time since I'm stuck not making any progress on other work and finally got around to replacing the thrust/tension struts/radius rod/lower control arm (not sure what to actually call it ).

Either way, Indy told me the bushings were shot so I ordered the entire arm for left/right a while back and they've been staring at me ever since. Old ones didn't look as bad as they were, at least to my untrained eye, but a quick drive to make sure nothing would fall apart and what a difference fresh rubber/ball joint will make.

Previously, hitting larger bumps or even small potholes would jar the whole vehicle and make it seem like there was some unnatural flex in the chassis. Much smoother now.

And yes, I did torque them down with the suspension loaded.

Replaced the valve cover (Cam cover) gaskets. Holy hell, that's a PITA job.

I also replaced the tension struts last week. Can't believe how much difference it made on the drivability/handling. Strongly recommended if you know they have not been replaced.

Had order and installed today a new cigarette lighter. Mine came with the plastic dummy lighter in the socket when I bought it.
