The tailgate options are the only options in the HKL module, if available.

wow this is a great thread, just picked up a 2008 X5 3.0si with 3rd row for my wife's "mom mobile" (3rd kid coming in Dec) and it's on the original battery (and original brakes & tires... car only has 30k on it!) so would need to register the new one... ability to do diagnostics and some additional coding is a huge plus. I will seriously consider getting this setup

by chance is there anyone in Northern NJ area using this on their X5? I'd love to see it in action before buying the app and the adapter

Do not think about it, just do it. Also get OBDFusion for $3.99, it will work with the BMWhat/Carly Bluetooth interface.

+1

The adapter works with Torque/Torque Pro, too.

But OBDFusion is current $1 cheaper than Torque Pro and properly supports Wideband O2 sensors and Fuel System Status.

Have a look here https://youtu.be/-KjUiUOTxS8 . I also have a 2008 E70 x5 (diesel) and made the clip using Carly to run a diagnostic on it. Also, if you decide to purchase Carly, enter voucher code ZAG6FX on the Carly shopping cart here www.ivini-tech.de/en and you will save € 5 off the purchase price. You can even save buying the adapter from Amazon, but you would need to contact Carly support at www.mycarly.com before purchasing with the voucher code so that they can generate a working discount code for Amazon.

I like the gong idea from a safety standpoint but the length of time it sounds for is just ridiculous.

EDIT:- I had a look at the coding options on my iOS version of Carly today and could not see the tailgate function as yet no HKL module coding options), I will check the next release of the app as I would say this function is currently being vetted by Apple.Attachment 67693
About two months have gone by since the HKL (TAILGATE) module became available for Android users. Still waiting for Apple to release the Carly update for iOS...who knows how much longer this will take

Hi everybody,
New to E70 (had an E53 years ago) and to Carly BMW.
I read a few pages here, YouTube tutorials and still confused. Is the WiFi adapter needed to run the Carly software? I read about people using it and others doing the software changes through the car's Bluetooth. I installed the Lite version (iOS) and with the engine ON or OFF the Carly app doesn't connect to the car's Bluetooth. I want to try to connect using the Lite version before I end up spending $45 on the full version. Anyone in Winston Salem, NC that would like to test his Carly software on my car?
Thanks anyway for any help
