It's the fact that you went down a version i.e. V26--> vT26.09A that put it into 7er mode. You would have had the same issue if you'd gone from V26--> v24, V26-->V25. There are UK users that have needed a recode without ever touching the beta version, but went back a version to get V26 with splash screen.

Don't want to labour the point but if you get it recoded then go V27--> V26 --> V27 with splash screen for example, then I suspect you'll be visiting the dealer again!
