No worries!

I'm sure people are going to have some fun with that program of yours. I think in future I'm going to switch to CD-RWs!

One way of testing what does what is by changing EVERY colour in a given profile to the SAME colour, but make each profiles' colour different to the next profile. Although I suspect the entire screen will be one colour, which would make navigating the menus impossible - but you never know...

i'd like to change the minour road text into "not visible", they're disturbing in Birdview. because they allways appear where crossing two roads. That's unbelieveable... why they're coud'nt appear on all the other space where's no crossing...

So i changed the "minour road text" from "black" into "T" (hope means "transparent"). From all colour shemes, but no difference. I delete the white icon for minour roads, that's working. But i still have the text there without icon.

It's even better without the big icon now, but still it's not perfect. perhaps someone have a solution on his mind.

I'll have another update tomorrow:

I'm working on new 'car icons' for both the plan view and perspective.

A few things I don't like about the existing icon
- they're just too big!
- in plan view the shadow rotates with the icon (looks ridiculous)
- in perspective view it looks completely different to plan view (grey/silver)

I've attached two samples (will test them tomorrow and post photos on screen). There are 24 images for each type, 15 degrees apart.

I've been fiddling a little more.

I changed the colours in the following sections to see how it changed on the screen. Within each rom_col_x section I alternated only 2 colours.
rom_col - red & yellow
rom_col_1 - blue & green
rom_col_3 - black & white

This is what I have determined so far:
  • rom_col - No affect any colour on the system
  • rom_col_1 - This sets the scheme for the GPS logo and all colours in colour scheme 1 (ie. the Blue one)
  • rom_col_3 - This sets colour scheme 2 (ie. the Brown one)

There are a few exceptions (I haven't found them yet)
  • The text for the 'road' icons (the background icons are images)
  • The text for city/ocean/lakes/park names
  • The N & arrow square in the top left of the screen
  • The 'haze' for the sky in perspective mode

These must all lie elsewhere.

What this means
  • Full modification of the screen colours is possible
  • A 'night mode' could be created in place of one of the schemes used by the system

I've attached some images of the Frankenstein screens!

EDIT: I didn't think to switch the car's lights on/off to see if there was a hidden day/night switch. Maybe...

Oh...

...here are my updated 'car icons' for anyone that may want them. The images are zipped - the ZIP file changed to a WMV file (just revert the extension and unzip).

Enjoy!

Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't have a 3D program to make the perspective version a true torus.
It still works well and it is much easier to see the roads beneath them than the old icons allowed. I felt they were just too bulky.

Just a quick note: all your pictures include Photoshop ICC profile, this makes them about 50% larger than necessary/originally. You should change Photoshop so that when opening a picture it asks about color management and then select not to use any color profile. Or you could use Web save -menu but this also seems to remove gamma header which the original files have.
