No matter what car I drive, after one or two weeks of driving it I get use to the size of it and and have no problems with parking and stuff, but if it helps others then fair enough!

I put an Eclipse BEC-108 reverse camera into my X3 with OEM Nav using a NavTV modulator.

I don't even have backup sensors, and personally would never even need them. People have come to really too much on technology instead of basic driving skills. I feel ABS is a great system to have, but after going to a Porsche driving skill, I learned some great techniques when all redudant safety systems were shut off. In the end, I feel that I gained far more by learning how to control my car than to hope for the best and rely on electronics to do what I should know how to do on my own. Backing up is the most simple of things, so if we can't even do that w/o multiple cameras, it's only going to go downhill from there. This reminds me of the story posted here where a new X5 owner is trying to sue the dealership because he used the camera system only to backup and still hit something. When did common sense go out the door? To each their own.

No matter how much driving skill you have, you can't bend light. If you can't see the corners of your car from the driver's seat, parking in a sapce only 12 inches longer than your car can be very tricky.

Try parking in Paris, there it is common common to "park by touch".

Hmm...I can tell how much room I got and judge just by looking down the side of my car thru mirrors, never bumped in to car! After driving a car for a while I get use to the size and the length, I use to drive 25 tonne lorrys when I was a teenager and never had problems with parking it after I got use to the size of it, i didn't like using the reverse camera neither, no need! Especailly if you can see the parked vehicle behind out of at least one mirror it shouldn't be a problem parking it and judging distance.. I guess a reverse camera is only worth it for the less confident driver or for commercial vehicles with no windows on the back... But an x5 you can see the whole way round just like any other car..

But you can't! You simply can't see all the corners of the car from the driver's seat. I lived in London for years, and became an expert at parking my old Mini in the tiniest of spaces, but only by taking more and more risks and getting out to look at the gaps with smaller spaces.

Yeah I'm in london.. Well I'm in chigwell essex now.. I can litteraly look at a space, a tight one at that too and I just know straight away whether I'm gonna fit in to it because I know my car... I don't really need to see all corners of a car to back up to something, Its the same with driving lorrys around london with the massive over hang at the back of rigid lorrys, that's the worse, but in the end I just know when the overhang has cleared vehicles so that I can turn without the worry of the over hang of the lorry swinging out at parked cars down a tight street in london, and at first I'm a bit cautious but after a little while of driving it I don't have any problems, and I'm sure your aware of central london is an absolute nightmare for its tight back roads but i got use to what I'm driving and had no problems at all.. I'm probably gonna go out and bump straight in to a car now haha... Are you in london your self?

Not in London any more, actually! For me, I just got my E46, and the PDC has helped me get into spaces, and a front mounted camera on the NSF would be very handy when swinging the nose in while reversing.

Although I can park it without them since I learned without the aids, these days I'm a little out of practice because I have a driveway at home now and at work I have a parking slot.

I always end up turning my pdc off, it drives me mad, especailly having them at the front aswell as the rear it can drive you nuts with all the beeping going on at the front and rear at the same time, especially when there is still around 8 inches when you get a constant beep, it could have you going in and out of the space all day when realisticly you could of drove in to it the first time, even cams can be a bit off putting.. surley you don't need anything at the front though..
