Just wonderin', but why the black case? It dosen't add any benefit besides looking cool. And costing a lot. :)
Surprising how you went from a bare bones base model to the top o the line fully loaded one. But anyways you made a good choice.

you should wait for the next-generation ms-office to come out first. as for the current one available on the mac, it's cheapest on amazon.com most of the time. usually around $110.

Ok, teaser wabbit, when is the next version coming out? Thanks for the Amazon tip

What about getting it with a student discount?

Is the black case more expensive? Now you have me confused  . That was the entire purpose of this thread true, to gain more education on the MacBook. I have never had a Mac before, so I wanted advice from the experts. The primary reason I have now chosen black, is that I decided the black frame would make the colors on the screen "pop" more. Kind of like when I buy a TV. I won't buy a TV with a silver frame, I will only buy one with a black frame because it gives much better contrast.

I guess it's rare that someone actually listens and takes advice from the resident subject matter experts? Money wasn't the issue, getting the correctly configured computer was. Hell, I probably would have gone out and bought it this week had the first person not told me about Leopard :).

That's what you get with the student edition. Apparantly, they usually just don't care or ask for student ID to get it. That's my understanding anyway.

if they dont check then why dont you get the laptop with student discount too. its 100 dollars off the system. but here in boston they always ask for student id to get student discount because they need to input the student id to get the discount.

I'm not a student, so that won't work then ;)

You're right, the colours are so much more vibrant with the black case. If you get a chance to, check both computers (black vs. white) out at an Apple Store, or CompUSA. The black case is $200 more, but I got mine through the hospital at which I work, so the pricing was the same as that of the white case. The only drawback I've found thus far, is all the fingerprints on the case. The one thing that works really well at cleaning them off, and getting your Macbook back to its original form, is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

We are talking about the student discount on the Mac not the software
