I loved the nippy on my ThinkPad. Although it royally effed up my screen when I accidentally sat a few books on top of it.

Me too! Just get an optical wireless mouse. You just need to plug in a little "dongle" into one of your USB ports. That way you can sit on your couch etc... and just use the mouse on the cushion next to you ;). Something like this LINK.

Where it would really come in handy would be when you travel and set up your laptop on the desk. I was simply sharing and giving you a very inexpensive alternative ;).

I seriously can't use a laptop without the nub. Touchpads are just so useless. Believe it or not, this is half the reason I haven't switched from my T41 to a Mac notebook.
