- Second, you extract the contents of the VXX file (newest version is V28) to a folder on your hard drive.

- You download he navtweak2.2 program (links available across this website, older version also works)

- you find the file "navboot" (there's no extension, just navboot) and you open this file with the navtweak program.
(file location : V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S\app_sw)

- if navtweak won't start, you need the GTK software, the links are also available on this site (do a search for "gtk") and copy the navtweak.exe file in de bin directory of the fresly installed gtk drectory.

- once opened, go to the second tab called "images" and browse down. You will see every image used in the BMW software on the map etc. The bootup image is located in the 'rombitmaps' tab, just below the main tabs, you can't miss it...

-simply rightclick on the line you want to change and select replace. select you own image, save the file and write the contents of the whole cd to a new blanc CD-R at very low speed (to minimize read errors , you definitely don't want those )

- go to your car, key in the ignition on the first position (when you can use the radio, but not all of the dashboard is lit up), insert the cd in the trunc

- wait and pray ;-) It hasn't gone wrong once so... the screen will tell you what to do, but mostly is says "wait" ;-)

Hope this helps.. any more questions? just ask

Great instructions, thanks:thumbup:

One question (for now) when i go into "rombitmaps" is the splash logo the first gif 5x5 pixels?

EDIT..found it;)

Managed to change the splash screen ok and checked to make sure it had changed by going into nav tweak and checking.
Burnt disc at 8x in Nero (lowest) still wont read it,saying incorrect cd/dvd in....

One thing I noticed , if I go into (my computer) on the pc it is reporting the original as (nav) when the burrt disc goes in it reports it as (my disc),probably a Nero thing.

Nearly there,any tips guy's?

Update...used a slightly different method, opened the original v28 (img file) in power iso, changed the splash screen and burnt the disc all within the one program. It updated the s/w back from v27 so all seems fine.Brought the disc back up to the pc and opened it up using nav tweak and it has changed the splash screen on the disc so it should be on the car also.

Thing is, the car has lost its gps signal, will come back on when i pull out of the garage and it boots up correctly, need sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think, something wrong in your work, because I use navtweak everyday for testing with v28 and 2007-1 with cameras and I have no problem .
Take new clean v28 orig. and if you have modify do that step by step like wrote author navtweak. be care ,some orig. version V28 on internet are wrong.
