You can change all lines in 'lng_rel.tbl' file, probably you'll need to change version numbers in 'voice.lst' file located in voice directory.

Thanks Nomad.

To save some more CD's.

Do I need to change the "lng_rel.tbl" and "sw_rel.tbl" in the 0101 >BMWC01S< and >BMWM01S< folders or just in >BMWC01S<

BMWM01S for monochrome systems.

Ok Thanks.

Did mod a disc yestreday as a test using navtweak. Changed the splash and background for perspective mode (found both here in this post). Update worked ok but now Im about 100 meter of track when driving, the navigation slowly gets me back on the right track but then freezez and reboots the system and this continous in a loop. Loaded my org 29.1 and everything is OK again.

Was using this splash

And this background:

Thanks to the editors!

Any ideas why this happend?

Can someone email me the NavTweak software? The download seems not working. My email address is [email protected]
Thanks

Guys,

I've modified my version of 29.1 using navtweak, but I can't seem to get it to "take." It loads up on the nav computer fine and says it's updated, but when the nav system restarts I don't see any of the changes I've made.

I've checked the CD I made and the changes are indeed there.

Do I need to rename something to trigger the system to upload my modified version?

Thanks again for your help

downgrade 1 version and then upgrade with your modified CD.

Thanks! I found this on page 23 of this thread (i missed it the first couple of times). It was a bit more convenient as I couldn't find my old version)

The nav unit doesn't allow it to "update" with the same software as already installed.
So you have to fake the SoftwareVersion.
do the following: also extract the 2 .tbl files from the directoy:
<drive>:\V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S
Open it in an HEX editor (like PSPad http://www.pspad.com/en/)

In the first line you find: 30 38 30 30 This means: 0800 So: Software-Version 08.00
Just edit the last 30 to 31 and you nav unit will think it's a new Software Version and you can update your V28 without prior downgrade to V27

The next time you update, you can edit it back to 0800 then 0801 again...
