"Search by part of name" was in v28. I used it last weekend (and many times before) to look for POI. For example, I entered "in-n" to search for In-N-Out Burgers.

Like everybody else on this board, I've upgraded to v29, no changes noticed. The only thing different from my v28 is that I lost KrisL' new menu text :-(
See http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...menu-text.html.

KrisL, if you're listening, please give us a new version :-)

Okay, but "search by part of the name" only works when you choose a sub-category under the information section.

Meaning, unlike my aftermarket Alpine nav where you can just type part of a name for any POI, in the BMW NAV OS, you have to choose the sub-category of the POI (such as DINING & ENTERTAINMENT or SHOPPING or PUBLIC PLACES)....once you choose the sub-category, then you can search for part of a name for that particular sub-category.

I guess V29.1 works just like V28 in terms of searching for POIs.

I will try it out, but I guess it seems like bug fixes. V28 definitely found the sats much better than V27.

I had to revert back to V28 as the City/PC (postal code search for us in the UK) facility had gone, it only allowed you to search for a CITY.

Has aybody else experienced this...I'm running with a 2007-1 High DVD and have no problems if running with V28.

My V29 works with postal codes here in Sweden

A pity that this 2008 GPS software has still a worse handling and viewing than my 2003 Magnetti Marelli ...:saad:

Not yet updated, but interesting observations

The MDF in the .rar file is 302,328,432 bytes.

Buring the MDF using UltraISO, value properties taken from Windows XP:
Reported data size: 262,203,354
Size on disc: 262,672,384 (cluster size)
Disk property: 262,994,768

Here is where things get interesting:

Using UltraISO, "Convert" MDF to ISO, result ISO size: 302,328,432 (same as MDF).

Using UltraISO, "Save As..." to ISO, result ISO size: 262,942,720. Using this ISO to burn the CD, here are the results:

Reported data size: 262,203,354 (same as above)
Size on disc: 262,672,384 (cluster size, same as above)
Disk property: 262,942,720 (SAME AS ISO FILE SIZE, BUT DIFFERENT THAN A DIRECT BURN FROM MDF)

Both discs report 376 files and 110 folders.

I presume the diffferences are due to overheads, checksums, and/or additional properties stored on the disc, and either disc will work.

Just thought I'd share my findings. I also built a disc with a different splash logo. We'll see if that works out okay.

When you doa convert with ultraIso, it retains the original CD Mode (Mode2)
when you do a SaveAs, it changes to Mode1

Use ImgBurn andopen each image - the original is a Mode2 image, and should remain so (so that it works in a Mk3)

Mk3 hangs up with Mode1

The V29.1 in this Post is a mode 2 cd, if you uses Alcohol 120%.
