I didn't miss the idea. You didn't ask if I thought charity should be forced. You asked if wealth redistribution was a good idea.

When did Obama enter this discussion, apart from FSeth's reference to Joe the Plumber? What about the current financial bailout?

If you are going to redistribute wealth, at least give it to those who need it and not those who have proven they don't deserve it, ie the robber barons.

Oh Lord. We're talking about WEALTH redistribution...what are you classifying as wealth? How someone feels?

So, how do you measure hard workers by the dollar. I am an attorney, making a very good living. But I look out of my window everyday at the construction workers bending steel and performing backbreaking work. Are they less hard working than me because they earn less than 1/3 my income? You couldn't pay me enough to do what they do.

A lesser valued worker???
Who might that be??

You honestly believe that someone who bust his butt for $9.00
An hour is some how of lesser value than someone making $250.000 a year.

You've hit on the fundamental difference between Liberals and Conservatives.
Taxation is wealth distribution under your current government, it has nothing to do with Democratics and Republicans as they are currently campaigning. I think you may be getting more into a Libertarian definition here.

Since you bring up fundamental differences, it seems to me that the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals want charity for the poor, and conservatives want charity for the rich. Old joke.

For the record I voted “YES”

#1 I believe in helping the poor

#2 I believe in financially helping the family

#3 I believe in sharing knowledge that leads to independent wealth

#4 I believe in taxes that are needed to fund public services

#5 I believe in philanthropy

#6 I believe in acquiring spiritual wealth and passing it along free.

#7 I don’t believe in being selfish

If any of these things I’ve listed fall within the confines of wealth redistribution Than it’s a good thing.

If It ever gets to the point that I would have more money that I could ever spend, I doubt seriously I would be the least bit concerned about weather wealth redistribution was an issue.

I am because I believe that prosperity starts from the bottom up. Furthermore, I do not share in the "Me First" mentality.
