X5TT - any update on DMS tune?

How is it going now that its been a few weeks? I'm going to consider this option as I reckon that the factory tunes off the assembly line are just hit and miss ..it would be at least of good thing to do to get it optimised via a reflash ...

anyway .. are you happy with it? might depend on my next question what sort of $$ to get it done and how long did they have the car for? did they dyno and hand over a report to show actual improvement vs advertised? did you consider any other options /suppliers rather than DMS? thanks for any updates / info.

Oh x5tt - just a thought

if the next 40d is 224kw and 600Nm.. and the DMS tune is around 255kw and 700Nm - then it theory you should be experiencing 0-100 around the 6.4 mark I reckon (40d will be 6.6 and current 35d is suppose to be 7 flat) ...does it feel like that ? might be hard to tell as in real world there's not much in it. Just as importantly - does the car feel more nimble inflight and tractable when flying around? is there any less lag on launch? (lets face it there is a sub-second delay when you floor these things even before the little turbo starts becomming effective at low end )

Hi all,

Anyone have clearbra installed? What are the pros and cons?
Anyone know of a pro installer in/near Brisbane. Would you mind sharing how much it costs?

Also looking for ideas on rear DVD screens for the 2nd and 3rd rows. What do you have installed? Dealer has said headrests cannot be replaced or cut out because they are active headrests.

Thanks,
Edward

So far so good. but i found fuel consumption is worse as I only had 240km with half tank (of cus second half tank drive more, but....)

I don't feel any less lag on lanch, but mid-range acceleration is quite noticable faster than before. In other words, not much different from 0-100Km or I can't feel it. it cost $2600 and it only takes overnight. I'm curious if you can show me the actual improvemtns report if you decide to go ahead, but no i don't have. DMS is the only choice for me because what they do is just reflash ECU, not like someone else insert some MAGIC chips.

thanks very mucj x5TT for response ..

I also like the idea of just a reflash rather than any physical muckiung around that my dealer could use as leverage if things go wrong with drivetrain unrelated to flash ...

Also interesting to hear about your 0-100 thinking ..it means (as I suspected) that with such a heavy vehicle, cutting 0-100 by half a second or so means nothing in the real world ..so I feel a little better now that I missed out on 40d and got a great deal on 2010 innovation 35d.

$2600 seems ok I suppose .. but I might just bank it and put towards the 2012/13 model .. if the DMW stats on paper provided a bigger ommf then I'd probably go for it ..but feedback suggests that it incremental rather than transformational

In terms of fuel - I'm registering 15.5l/100 at the moment on average ..we only really use it for school runs and shopping ... only 1500km on clock but it aint getting any better really ...therefore when 50i arrives I might take a good hard look towards the end of the year ..I know that 4.4 TT will use more (like 22l/100 I suspect for city driving) ... so I'd be paying an extra $8 bucks or so for every 100km. Now given that we only drive less than 10,000km per year the running costs will be increased by only $800 per year (that's less than $20 per week!) ... so I reckon I may end up swapping if the performance and extras stack up ... I couldnt warrant this with 4.8 as the performance over 35d was marginal ..but I think 50i might change that (they are saying 5.5 sec 0-100 - now that should be noticable) ..anyway .. all food for thought ...

thanks again for all you feedback ..keep us in the loop.

have a look at this one, anzer

Hi Ran

Please find below performance tables and pricing for Kraftwerk below.

Kraftwerk have many years of extensive knowledge on ECU tuning from Germany.

Laptop Tuning

Performance increase:
243kw
660Nm
Price incl GST $1944.90
Note: These are the minimum values we guarantee.
(German’s are rather conservative and preferably deliver better results, for the benefit of the customer, so you can expect even slightly higher values)

Plug and Play module

Car Make
Car Model x5 3.0sd
kW Series 210
HP Serie 286
Nm Series 580
Kraftwerk kW 242
Kraftwerk HP 329
Kraftwerk Nm 660
PRP in $AU* excl GST $1799
PRP in $AU* incl GST $1978

I received this email from a guy called Ross who work in Tuning world (the only Ac Schnitzer dealer in Aus), it does pretty much the same thing as DMS in terms of performance, but with cheap price.

I have attached Kraftwerk brochures for your interest. there is another Module Installation Guide PDF file, 2.5MB so I can't attach to here, but I can email it to you if you want to.

hi everyone, great to see an Aussie bunch here,

Just came back from a whole day test driving of MB GL 320, Audi Q7 3d and Vol Xc90, atm I have got a 04 plate x5 3d sport. Test driving went well, (Silverstar Doncaster offers great coffee), and wife agrees we will only think of getting another x5.

as seen in the above 20 pages of posts, it's hard to choose between MY10 35d fully optioned up or MY11 40d, will go to a dealer and see how it goes.

40d is very tempting, but then again, 35d sounds like a good value (er... is this ever true)
