You need the BMW Y cable

Dealer 'gave it' to me as part of a $200 lifecyle bonus thingy .. therefore I think you'll have to pay.

aside - mine is faulty and I'm taking it back for replacement ..if you put the heavier Classic ipod in (like I did because it holds ALL my music with lots of room left) then anchor it down in the centre console unit to stop movement etc (the likely cause of cable faulting) ..I'm going to velcro mine in once new cable comes through in two weeks ...

Just wondering if anyone has the 6FL USB/audio interface option? If so, did you receive a "Y" cable with it free? I believe this cable is to connect an ipod/iphone via USB so it can be controlled via iDrive, and steering wheel volume controls.

I've tried plugging the Apple USB cable my ipod touch (have also tried my iphone without success) into the USB slot in armrest console and glovebox, but iDrive displays it as 'Not Supported' or 'Reading...' and does nothing.

I've told my dealer and he said I would need a "Y" cable from BMW, which they can order in - he did not say but I'm sure they will try to charge me for it. From what I've read here, those in the USA get this cable included with 6FL.

If you bought this cable, how much and where?

Thanks,
Edward
I got mine from BMW when I picked up my car. It costs $148.50 and works seamlessly.

Does anyone here have the Individual High End audio in there X? Is it much better than the premium audio?

I have it in my X6M and honestly haven't noticed the difference between it and my X5 with the premium system yet. But I haven't had time to check it out properly yet, I currently only have some 128kbps mp3's and so far I've not wanted to have music playing anyway because the engine sound is way too sweet

Sooo jealous! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for you! Will be hard to miss with that number plate! There is a X5M getting around on the northside with the number plate HI 5.
When you do get a chance to check it out please let us know if the difference is noticable.

Ash

Pick up 2010 35d next Friday

Dealer had left the 211 Y wheel upgrade in deal, they were going to cost $5200 I slept on it overnight and called the next day to say thanks but no thanks - glad now as that's a lot for 18 to 19 upgrade. I polished up my 18's today on 2009 35d and they look just fine ...so I'll be happy to have them again.

Looking forward to some of the innovations add ons + new idrive. I'll still drive new models when they come in later in the year to see how they compare ..there's some things that I would really like but couldnt have as I didnt factory order - like comfort access (no key fumbling), comfort seats (I get a sore back), HUD (to save my licence and remind me what 51km/h looks like), high end stereo (base one is average), different interior colour (got black, want beige) ...anyway ..I'll live for now

Hope the demons that plagued my 2009 model dont appear on this one

Any of you Aussie guys ordering 2011 model?

Keen to see what's happening with pricing etc (i.e. what changes over 2010, what is 'free' (e.g. sunroof etc) ..what comes standard now in 2011 with 35i vs 40d vs 50i etc

If I had an X6M I don't think I'd be too worried about the sound system myself.

If you can afford the M I suspect that the fuel consumption won't be an issue. I also suspect that if you keep the loud pedal quiet the fuel consumption will be pretty good. On the other side, I guess it will be easy to ramp up the consumption big time if you wish to hear the noise....

Over to you jimsaq...
