It would have helped me if you had only osted it about a week earlier!

Thanks guys! Just an update on programming (not coding, programming).

I forgot that the authentic BMW dealership software most likely uses the VIN and checks it against a database of option codes the VIN has - so bringing the vehicle to the dealer to program the FRM is probably not going to work. I remember a guy with a 550i wanted to add ceramic controls to his car - he spent a LOT to do it - but ultimately the dealership system would NOT code his car because he didn't have the ceramic controls option code from the get go. Stupid, but it is what it is.

Sooooo I am off to find a Autologic system that will program without any BMW NA bullshit. Again, if your FRM3 is built after 10/10, you can have it programmed, otherwise you need to buy a new one and have it coded to your car. (You can also buy a new FRM3 and have it coded, depends upon how thrifty you are feeling haha).

Thanks Jeff! It was totally a amateur video and I was so brain dead in filming vertically, but it gets the point across.

Hey Tony! quick question for you - did you end up buying a new FRM3 module and let the Autologic tool code it, or did you use your existing FRM3 module that came with the truck to update the software and code it?

Do you recall if the halo rings worked on both sides before coding? Right now only my drivers side halo is working.

Chris, outstanding video. Removes a lot of the guess work for anyone contemplating this mod.

Well done.

Yeah Chris, mine is not coded (or programmed) yet either. I bought a new FRM3 from BMW.
My halos work.
The left side lowbeams, high beams and halos work, but no amber running lights or turn signals.
All right side functions work except high beams.
This is the weird part... since I swapped the FRM, the window switches and mirror switches are reversed, meaning that the left side switches operates the right side functions and vise-versa????
I'm hoping that autologic will fix that too.

My truck is still in the paint shop and the mechanic shop wants everything put back together (PDC sensors, etc) before he attempts any programming or coding, so it will likely be Monday before anything happens

:/

Another person posted the same problem with the FRM. Did you disconnect the battery before doing the swap?

Programming will resolve the problem. That FRM module controls a lot of functions, so just hang tight :) Your other option is to return it (if you can?) and just use your existing module.

Yes, I was sure to disconnect the battery.
I'm hoping that programming will solve the issues.

Hey Chris

Yes my halos both worked before before coding and I also used my existing FRM3,Make sure you code it first and right away it will require update with the Autoligic.
