I actually have some of that polish, might give it a try on a warm day; or in the spring. Yours look great!

Any word on turnaround time from Vortech? I was going to email them, but felt like I'd asked then enough questions. Mine arrives in Oxnard on Monday. $43 shipping.

Thanks man!

Their website claims a 5-10 business day turn time that I assume starts once they actually start working on it. Mine arrived at Vortech on Monday and they say they'll get to it this coming Monday. Hopefully it's quick!

What does it do on the gasoline engines?

So basically it's like the old under seat flame heater in a troika back in the day?

Same as on the diesels - it heats the engine coolant to speed up engine warming on cold days and can be used (via aux. heating) to warm the cabin.

It about halves the warm-up distance/time on cold mornings.

I posted a video showing its operation a forum page back...

I think on gas models it has its own tank for diesel

Nope. I kinda though that must be the case too, as I couldn't imagine these running on gasoline. But they do.

The units fitted to gasoline cars have a different burner but otherwise are pretty much the same.

As you will read in alex_j's post, you can even convert a diesel version to gasoline by swapping the burner module....:thumbup:

Yeah. That's what I'm saying. It heats he cabin when u use the aux vent function.

I know I'm in Texas and shit, but I'm toying with the idea of retrofitting one to mine. Lol.

Finish my heated steering wheel restoration. This is the same steering wheel that was for sale here on the black X5. Looks and works great

Buffed all the leather that was treated and put on the car cover on as snow is on the way and some idiot has salted the roads so deep that there will not be a fish alive in the river come spring. No driving the x for a while.

I guess - sort of.

There are four possible "aux." features that I know of: -

Aux. Vent - vent only, drawing in fresh air. Can be configured on MID to be on a timer. No Webasto heater used. Cooling really, not heating...

REST - uses residual heat from engine coolant to maintain cabin heat, once engine is off. No Webasto heater used.

Aux. Heater - Uses a Webaster heater to aid engine warm up and can be used independently (via a remote) to heat pre-heat engine and cabin. (I have this one).

Park Heating - Uses Webasto but has extra water valves so heated coolant flow is limited to cabin heater core only - no engine pre-heat.

There may be other configurations! ;)
